Chase Hounshell gets a sixth year

Read today that Chase was given a sixth year by the NCAA. He announced on Twitter that he would transfer from ND and play it at another school. He will spend the next couple of weeks checking out options before transferring after the spring semester.
I wish him all the best !He's in the Jarrett Grace category of men with real guts!

Mistake for BK not to invite him back. The guy is a leader. You make room for leaders.
I agree.I would have liked to see him back if for nothing else intangibles and a reward for past effort and leadership.Maybe his choice because he actually would like the chance to play a meaningful on field role before he puts on a suit for the rest of his life. [just speculating here]

OK since we don't really know for sure and are all speculating for entertainment purposes, let's consider this proposition.I believe I have read/heard "power hour" maybe, that Mark Harrel is being moved to tight end and given a fifth year. Between the two players I would assume that Harrel is the more experienced and proficient blocker being a four year olineman and transitioning to tight end. Additionally Harrel provides versatility and depth along the oline that Hounshell does not. Also perhaps the equities of the situation and the net benefit to the team are more apparent when the coaches had to choose between these two deserving players than between Hounshell and some unnamed recruit or a walk on. Maybe the coaching staff is really on top of this one?[smile]

How do you know he wasn't invited back? He may have decided he wanted more playing time than ND could offer.
Yea I'm sure he never considered that when he posted. Plus, we had like 6 captains last year, this team has no shortage of leaders, even after losing a bunch of players. Plus the guy played what 100 snaps his entire career? I'm sure this kid was tough and a great example in the locker room, but I think for all of these reasons that post was completely misguided.

I haven't heard that Harrell is moving to TE but it was mentioned by several sites that Jacob Matuska will likely be moving to TE.

Not sure that is true that Harrell is moving to tight end. I think Matuska is moving there.
