Changing Face of ND Stadium---HC Update

Every time I go back to campus it is amazing how much progress is made. An usher pal of mine told me that every home game Friday, university people along with contractors walk the complete stadium and surrounding area to make sure everything is safe and secure. At that point, the "keys" to the stadium are handed over to the university. Then, on Sunday, the same process takes place and the "keys" are handed back over to the contractors. They have this down to a science. Are you aware that there is now underground parking next to the stadium? Problem is, it won't be for fans. Maybe high rollers but mostly media from what I was told. This whole thing is amazing.

The big difference you will see after this weeks game is that construction will resume on the Music Building and you will see steel going up within the next couple of months. I suspect the Music building will be in a similar state of completion as the Corbett Family Hall by this time next year. Corbett Family Hall I believe will be finished by August of 2016 (or close to it) and I know the addition that overlooks the stadium will be used while they complete work on the other two buildings.

In regards to the parking I am not sure when they built this as I have been watching construction carefully but there could be a small amount. I did notice a tunnel by the corner of the Duncan centre which must lead to some other building(s) so students may be able to walk underground in the winter.

The parking is on the west side. Close to Gate E. Not sure how much parking there is but you can look down in the area from the pavement .

Underground parking is for NBC trucks and buses and other assorted media.

As far as the tunnels - every building on campus is connected with tunnels.
These are mechanical tunnels and are not used for students to escape any inclement
weather. These are for maintenance personnel only.

Any new building on campus will have a new tunnel built that connects it to the other
buildings. This is how UND feeds the campus with power, water and other mechanicals.

Now, build some more hotels so we can get sleep after a game! Sucks driving back to Chicago after a game...

Book your hotel right now for next year. You know the 2016 schedule. It's only a 2 hour easy drive back to Chicago anyway.

There are always hotels..you can even get them on Friday afternoon...the only question is how much $$$
Exactly. Seems there is a new hotel popping up around SB or Mishawaka every week.
The rooms are there. But from what I understand, they gouge you on prices on game
weekends.

There's actually two new hotels planned for downtown South Bend in the very near future.

The Hotel situation on game weekends is tough. If you want to stay within 5 minutes or so from ND campus the rates are $250 to $300 plus a night on Fri. and Sat.
