They are such a joke, it embarrassing. How in the hell is LSU still ranked after getting thumped by MSU. They've beaten BYU and Chattanoga ... rankings are such a joke. FSU ranked and they are at 0 - 1.

Probably because it was such a beatdown, it is being considered as one of those bad games that sometimes happen to good teams.
I really believe a solid win over MSU and people will start to take notice.
I read an article that showed several voters still have LSU ranked above MSU this week. Yea, they are a joke.
Not to worry. We are in September. If ND can keep winning, we will be just fine.

Yes, but I am also one who believes there should be no pre-season poll.
Before FSU lost the QB, both FSU and Ala. were legit playoff contenders. #1 and #3 were about right heading into the season. FSU will have trouble getting by Clemson.
Even though we're not ranked yet, we're now 14th in ESPN's FPI Index. So apparently ESPN's computers like us better than the human pollsters. I think the computers are impressed by our large margins of victory and total yardage, in our two wins.
I think it says more about what the humans think of ND. Until they see wins against quality competition, their ranking of ND isn't much justified. Beat U$C then they'll have their reason. Lose, then here comes 8-4, and rankings really don't matter. A familiar story.

I think with the human polls where you start also has an effect. We weren't ranked in the preseason. Look at LSU. They're also 2-1, haven't beaten anyone good and lost by 30 to Mississippi State. And yet they're still ranked 25th, because they started out ranked in the top 15.
But last season should be irrelevant. Different season, different teams. Fortunately, these polls are all meaningless anyways - especially now that the Committee decides the playoff teams.
If you think last year is irrelevant, when it comes to the polls, you are living in a dreamland.
