I know this topic comes up basically once a year, but I actually took the time to review this recently. BK is 60th on the list.....60th. Even you BK haters (you know who you are) can agree that is pretty ridiculous.

Interesting that two of the top 10 on that list have already parted ways with their schools.

60th? That does seem low. I will say that's not high on my list of injustices, coaches' salaries....

But he ought to be top ten, no?

And Nick Rolovich, recently disgraced Wazzu coach, 3 million exactly! So that was no hyperbole. He really did walk away from a 3 million dollar annual salary to the penny....

This list of course, is subject to inaccuracies I would imagine.

I wonder: are there other payments not included? Cause that is laughably low for one of the best five couches in the country -- BK could triple his money at USC or LSU! Hard to turn down 6 million + a year in extra salary.

Must we do this every damn year???? The amount reported is only the amount paid in taxable salary directly by the university. It does not include all the other pieces of his total comp package. He is very well paid, and way above 60th in the pecking order.

I think that is wrong. Or misleading, that somehow he makes the money up somewhere else. That's what everyone says, right? Don't trust the media reports when it comes to BK's pay packet. He has some dark money revenue streams somehow, and his true earnings are much closer to what you'd expect for a successful coach at a place like ND.

But I didn't know he was going to be sixtieth. That is damn low...

Got it. Thanks.

Every few months. Same thing over and over

I keep reading the same reports. I've always thought ND was tight with their money. I think it's another reason your top coaches don't even want to talk with ND when a vacancy happens.

ND pays their coaches fairly; and they get revenue from other sources. So that frankly is a pathetic troll attempt.

TROLL ATTEMPT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't be stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ara said when he was hired Father Joyce told him that he would never make more than the President of Notre Dame. NOBODY really knows what ND pays their football coach because they never reveal it. Why would I troll a site I've been posting on for 16 years. That's nothing but pure BS. Oh the other sources are common sources that all major coaches get like clothing, shoes, public speaking, ect.

Coach Kelly gets paid extremely well. Id say top 8 in all of college football

Alright Karen, please tell us why Coach Rolo was disgraced? I’d love to hear your pea-brained hot take.

How do you know this? I've searched and searched because I'm curious. I remember him fighting to get his assistants well deserved raises many years back. I wished ND would release information like that.

He is top 10.

Do we have to go through this question every couple months
So ignore the thread then - and as someone else stated, if you know he is top 10 please provide the data. I simply shared the most recent report and am going off what that says. If he is getting "other" compensation, then so obviously are the other coaches. That isn't the topic. The topic was salaries.

I'm sure Kelly makes more than a paltry $2000000. And I understand that is what is reported as taxable income, and Notre Dame may not release the actual amount. But for Nick Saban, he gets over 9 million dollars in the same column that Kelly is reported to barely get above 2 million. So does that mean that Saban makes a ton more? The bottom line is this Kelly must be happy here, because he could make a lot more coaching somewhere else. And you're right, Miss gets address at least once or twice a year and basically it's meaningless. Does money is not the reason why Notre Dame cannot get a top-tier coach not that Kelly is not a top-tier coach. But let's face it, our recruiting is done with one hand tied behind our back, and we certainly discipline a lot more aggressively than other schools especially those in the SEC for similar transgressions.

In no particular order, but I’m sure these guys are making huge money well we know Saban, Dabo , fisher and coach O are.
Saban
Swinney
Coach O
Fisher
Day
Franklin
Smart
Sark
Kelly
Frentz
Mullen
Harbough
Riley

Of course, that was well over 50 years ago, and the college football landscape has changed a bit since then. I can assure you that Kelly make a pretty good multiple of what Father Jenkins gets paid.

There is no data, it's all hearsay. But what we DO KNOW is that ND was willing to pay a coordinator $1.5 million about 5 years ago, which would have put him in the top handful of highest paid assistants at that time. So I think we can be confident that ND is paying the market rate for its coaches, including Kelly.

Indeed. Even though it is sort of common knowledge among fans that 'supposedly' BK makes way more than you'll ever see in any official documentation or whatnot, it's also true that no one has ever backed that up with anything substantial. They just insist it's true.

I just thought it was noteworthy that he was ranked sixtieth. I didn't even know how to type that, I had to sound it out. That's how low being sixtieth is.

But of course, he's not really the sixtieth best paid coach. That's a misnomer, if you will. Or at least we are assured that, because ND is a private school and they don't have to release all the info, or whatever it is that keeps the true number hidden. And you know that this list is a little suspect because of Nick Rolovich's exactly 3 million dollar salary, which I thought was funny.

"Notre Dame has signed Weis to a new 10-year deal, the school
announced Saturday. The deal will make him the highest paid coach in college football, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen. Sources pegged the extension between $30 and $40 million. One source said it was closer to the high end of that range."

twalsh, you almost got what I was shooting for in your response. If ND was willing to give Charlie Weis a 30 to 40 million dollar extension after seven games, they definitely will take good care of a coach who has won 108 games in 11 and a half seasons. ND just likes to keep such matters quite.

2.5 million is not enough? I don’t think BK has the greed or the ego to consider the size of his wallet the main issue. Let the beatings begin…

Bk makes at a minimum 5 million a year. Probably closer to the 6 or more vicinity

I'm not so sure we ever actually 100% knew what Weis' deal was back then either. Unless his agent blabbed it in an attempt to make himself look good. Kelly's rep plays along and says absolutely nothing publicly.

According to this list Kelly is barely making more than his first year d coordinator. That alone should tell you it's bs.

4 years almost 2 million a year with his boss making 2.3 million.

That's barely more, and why lists like this are bs.
Where has this information been made available?. I guess I should just google it.

I did and it says 1.6 million. According to Forbes and 'Football Scoop'....
