Can Wimbush beat out Kizer for the number 2 now?

Who knows. I'll wait to see who suits up to play at the first game of the season. For all I know the Van Gorder kid may be the backup. I understand he has an in with one of the assistant coaches.

It looks like he was planning to redshirt but with the departure of EG, there's no reason for him to now.

Just so it is clear. I'm not saying this should happen. I have no idea how well he will grasp the offense. Just curious with all of the hype behind him, and with Golson leaving.

Who here believes it might happen.

I think it could happen. At some point, MZ is going to, at a minimum, lose his helmet. Someone has to come in. I'm not sure if Kelly will give Wimbush first chance because he will be able to preserve the RS year but still get him on the field. And hopefully into the defense secondary where he can run. Or toss it. This team is perfect for a new guy with talent and speed and experience all around.

Go Irish!

I think they're pretty good. Kizer was always a project. Wimbush will be the no. 2 by the time usc comes to town.

I agree Kizer was a project compared to some, but a good one. He was also offered by many top schools that usually do not rely on "projects." For instance, he was offered by Alabama, Arkansas, BC, Louisville, LSU, Michigan State, Nebraska, UNC, Penn State, Tennessee and Wisconsin. Pretty good list for simply a project.
