The Irish fell to Michigan State 9-6 last night in a midweek extra innings contest, after the Spartans hit two home runs in the top of the 12th inning.

Notre Dame answered to get runners on first and second with only one out in the bottom of the 12th, but two consecutive outs followed to end the contest.

ND is now just 4-6 in their last ten contests, after a streak of eight straight wins in early April. Three of the six losses have come in extra innings.

"We have to go back and lean on our preparation and worry about all the things that we can control," head coach Mik Aoki told UND.com. "We are still a very good baseball team with a lot to play for. We have to continue to go out there and be the aggressor and continue to have confidence in what we can do and what we have done. We just have to keep playing.

"There is no magic solution for this. We might be in a little three-game funk here, but we lost three in a row to Louisville and three in a row to Virginia and we just have to bounce back. With Wake Forest on the road, those are two tight games. The game we lost to Indiana last week was the same type of deal. The story is that any one of the games we lost in the last week could have very easily gone the other way with one swing of the bat or one pitch, so I don't think we go re-invent the wheel. We just have to keep doing what we have been doing."

Irish sophomore star Cavan Biggio hit a home run in the seventh inning, his third in the last five games.

ND hosts Sacramento State tonight at 6:05 p.m. ET.
