The Bowling Green Falcons will play at the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in 2019, the schoolannounced on Thursday.

The game is set for Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019 at Notre Dame Stadium and it will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

“We are excited to add a team as tradition-rich as Notre Dame to our non-conference schedule for the 2019 season,” BGSU Director of Athletics Bob Moosbrugger said. “Not only will BGSU football student-athletes benefit from the game day experience, but this game will provide a great opportunity for our football season ticket holders, Falcon Club members and alumni.”

The addition of Notre Dame tentatively completes Bowling Green’s non-conference schedule for 2019. The Falcons are scheduled to open the 2019 season at Maryland on Aug. 31.

In addition to games at Notre Dame and Maryland, the Falcons are slated to visit Kansas State on Sept. 7 and host Louisiana Tech on Sept. 14.

Notre Dame is set to open the 2019 season at Louisville on Monday, Sept. 2 (Labor Day). The Fighting Irish are also slated to travel to Georgia, Michigan, Duke, and Stanford.

Home games in 2019 for the Fighting Irish include New Mexico, Virginia, Bowling Green, Virginia Tech, Navy, Boston College, and USC. One of those will likely be dubbed the Shamrock Series game and played off-campus.

Now wait a minute gentlemen. In 1899 , Notre Dame played Lake Forest, Englewood HS, Rush Medical, and Physicians & Surgeons so adding D1 Bowling Green should be seen as an upgrade from previous schedules.

Tulsa had a great 'hit song' 'Livin on Tulsa Time....'
Duke once had top contending football teams
So Florida, Anita Bryant?

This is not an ND issue, this is a playoff issue. This is exactly what was created by the bowl selection committee. Iowa played 2 FBS and not a single team that was ranked last year and made it to the final 4 before a conf championship. ND lost to two top 10 teams on the last play and was not considered. You need only play 1 or maybe 2 top 25 teams to make it. Until the go to Top 8 or 16, this is the reality of football now unfortunately. Its the system, go with it!
