Nope; not a coach; Played 2 years in high school, that's it. Although as a Sophomore beat out a Notre Dame bound back for the homecoming game. Been watching ND and football in general for over 50 years. So, my take: Book has a quicker release, quicker feet (different than running speed);
and runs well enough; his arm is strong enough as well. And, I like his decision making. I know he threw 2 Int's today. Still, in the long run he is a better quarterback than Wimbush. I can see why Leach wanted him. Yep; I want Book to be the quy.

Wimbush is a 10.5, 100m runner. If he simply improves to be a 55% passer you essentially have Michael Vick 2.0... You Can't bench that guy. He just brings too much to the table. IMO, ND would have had 30+ at half today with Wimbush as the starter. There are things that Book does better, but IMO, when you are talking about the whole package, Wimbush is the obvious choice.

Book may one day be better then BW, but he is not right now. So glade BW didn't play today to rest the foot.

we don't have a qb problem we have a receiver problem

Claypool is actually improving every week. St. Brown has been poor and has taken a definite step back. Smith is just a solid guy.

I don't think that WR is a problem as much as I think that it is simply not a strength. Man do I miss having Mike Denbrock coaching pass catchers.

Can't agree more on this. Just seeing the lack of separation and poor technique at the line makes me want to scream at these guys. I haven't watched enough of SC to know what coverage types they will lean on but press man should be expected (or whatever UGA did).

I never understood people raving about Denbrock's work with receivers. I do think he was a very good recruiter.

Boykin looks the part. (I was away and I'm watching the first half now.)

Anthony Fasano, Marcus Freeman, John Carlson, Kyle Rudolph, Tyler Eifert, Michael Floyd, Theo Riddick, TJ Jones, DaVaris Daniels, Will Fuller....

Denbrock directly coached players to Pro Football in every single season he was at Notre Dame. That includes 3, 1st round picks and 2, 2nd round picks.

He was a really good west coast recruiter and an excellent developer of pass catchers.

I said receivers not tight ends. Devaris Daniels was a bust. I agree he was a great guy and loved ND but Will Fuller was great because he could blow by guys.

Isn't he now coaching at UC?

Never said he was a wonderful offensive coordinator, but I do think he was one of the finest position coaches in America for a time. Tubby Smith is coaching at Illinois. He an ex NFL coach of the year and took the Bears to the Super Bowl. I don't think where you finish your career is always a reflection of the coach you were at the height of your career.

Just because he is nice to the media does not make him a great coach. Tubby Smith coached at University of Kentucky and then Minnesota.

Obviously meant Lovie Smith. Wrote Tubby by accident... I don't care who is nice to the media or who is a dick. Doesn't matter to me. What matters to me is production. In Denbrock's 8-9 years at ND he produced 3 first round and 2 second round NFL draft picks and all were pass catchers. He also produced a bunch of other solid guys who are playing in the NFL.

I simply see no problem giving credit where it's due.

Theo Riddick was a RB. Never saw great production from Denbrock's work as WR coach.
