BK's interview

After 7 seasons Kelly comes this realization that he needs to step back from the offense and defense to be successful? What Kelly needs to do is resign because he has no idea how to coach a power 5 football team.

He stepped back because he was told to. Period. He's there to manage, direct and lead. Not prepare in depth game plans anymore. Now the OC and DC will do that. Either this works or he's gone. So the question will be when and at what point will they give him his walking papers.

Anytime a coach goes 4-8, he's going to do a lot of deep soul searching. It was particularly bad that it happened at ND in his 7th season. Elmer Layden's 1940 team held the record at 7-2 by a 7th year head coach at ND.

accountability, accountability But it only seems to apply to others.
Every time he speaks he reminds me of Martha Mitchell!

Kelly has been made a figurehead head coach only, so ND does not have to pay another buyout. The way things are happening it is clear this is not 'ND according to Kelly'
Who is best guess at who exactly is the guy running the team now?

Another note:
this blurb from interview: "...— "We were going from schemes to fundamentals on defense. We were a heavy scheme team. Then when I got over and took over the defense with (assistant coach) Mike Elston we went back to fundamentals and we saw a great change in our success rate on defense...."

So, at practice everyday, on the sidelines every game, in team meetings watching film, and sending multiple ID's to message forums, Kelly was the ONLY one that was to that point unaware that the defense was weak on 'fundamentals'.

I didn't realize Indiana alums have sources within the ND program.
