1st off I am as disappointed as anyone on the planet that ND did not complete the miraculous comeback last nite ,

After the sting wore off this morning I was reflecting on what I saw so I decided to share these thoughts .

What most concerned me after Clemson took a 14-0 lead was that maybe ND was not at this level and that the first 4 games were some type of mirage . those concerns were put to rest by what I saw in the next 3 and half qtrs . The defense settled in and played championship football and Kizer settled in and played championship level football ,

One play I would like to have had back was Kizers throw to Robinson in the back of the end zone for a two point conversion . I thought the throw had way too much juice on it given how open Robinson was - if we convert that throw it turns out ND wins the game -- back to the big picture

If IMO the conditions were better ND wins that game by 3 TD's - ND unleashed it's arsenal of offensive weapons in the second half comeback and I was looking at a championship level offense being run by a red shirt frosh in a monsoon . I bring up the weather because I don't think ND has four turnovers and 7 dropped passes in normal conditions . Three of the drops cost ND 12-16 pts ( two by Robinson and Will Fuller @ midfield )
So big picture in the last 32 minutes of the game ND performed at level that saw ND outscore a 12 th ranked team 21- 10 on the road in the worst setting possibly imaginable for a visiting team esp ND in the deep south where the fan bases truly hate all that Notre Dame represents .
Also lets look at the 32 minutes this way and the way I choose to look at it

  • CJ Sanders fumble handed Clemson 7 of their last 10 pts - 7 pts that cost ND the win
  • Robinson drop n first half cost ND 7 pts and a ND win
  • Robinson drop and Kizer pass on 2 pt conversion cost ND 2 PTS and a ND win
  • Brown fumble on 2 yds line cost ND a win
  • KIzer pick in fourth QTR cost ND 3 pts and valuable time off the clock that cost ND a win
Worst case scenario ND did out score Clemson 21-10 in second half in a best case scenario ND could have outscored them 28/35 - 0 in the second half . ND destroyed Clemson in the second half that bodes well for our talent level and proves to me that the program continues to be heading in a significant upward trajectory.
I have not read any posts today and I will not for a couple days. I simply have no tolerance for the negativity and shallow - ignorant evaluations and opinions being offered up by half assed ND bashers led by my buddy Perse and his band of nitwits -- they are insufferable bores who attack a school and football program that I have spent my whole life cherishing .

I am grateful there are still opportunities left this season for ND to get into the Top 5 in the polls and continue to have a high level product to sell prospective recruits- which at the end of the day is all that matters

Lastly I have constructed an email that I will send to the football office this week congratulating the staff and players for delivering a championship level product back to Notre Dame and urging them not to let up until a national championship trophy is brought back to South Bend .

I like the positivity even if I don't 100% agree with all these points. Let us never forget majority of players are kids that are trying hard to be students and football players and leave it all one the field. I still know several ND players from my days in the 80s and can confirm there is life after football for most of them and perhaps we could all take a lesson from them in supporting ND but also realizing it's not life and death and half the teams playing each week lose.

Wow, a common sense post. That may die of loneliness around these parts. When persavere, DIP and cgvr are done flossing Jim Harbaugh's pubic hairs out of their teeth, they will be very unhappy.
