i know the prevailing wisdom is ND will win and possibly win big. As Lee Corso would say " not so fast". It would be unwise to simply dismiss BC. Regardless of their offensive issues, they will show up ready to rumble. They have an outstanding defense. That alone will keep this game close. This is not an overpowering Irish team. Sure, they can put some points up. But if you look closer, it hasn't been an easy road. The Irish offense is not lighting it up. Temple had the blueprint to slow them down. Wake Forrest did their best but were unable to do enough. You can bet BC has noticed and will follow a similar plan to stop the Irish offense. The biggest issue for ND is the injuries. If this was a full squad, ND Would be in a much stronger position. You cannot discount the number of key injuries to starters and the inexperience players that have been asked to step up. Don't get me wrong, this team has tremendous resolve. They found a way to win at UV, at Temple and beat USC and a very tough Navy team. All quality wins. However, not having many key starters does hurt. I don't see this game as a blowout. I see a dog fight similiar to Temple and UV. ND has to protect the football. BC would like to get this game into the 4th quarter. History shows ND will have their hands full regardless of the talent disparity. We would be wise to not look past this game. This game really is BC's " super bowl". I hope the Irish are ready and can just get a win.

I think, in the main, you are correct. Short depth can always catch up to a team.

If this game is close, too close for comfort, then perhaps all this final four talk should be shelved. ND is not a dominate team. They just win. But, the BC game has to be more than that if the Irish want to be serious contenders.

If you feel that way you should bet your trailer on BC +16. Easy win. LOL.

TK, you are the only ND fan who worries more than me. And I come to it from my father, who had me convinced as a kid that we only recruited guys who were small, slow and adverse to contact. Sometimes I wonder if you are my father speaking from beyond the grave.

That said, I do not picture a blowout. Boston College always plays us with a chip on their shoulder. We are coming to Boston, an Irish town, in our kelly green uniforms, and they will be ready for a fight. We are the lace curtain Irish to their shanty Irish. I anticipate ND winning, but I am sure it will be tougher than many of our fans predict, something like 17-7 or 20-10. I expect them to try to slow the game down and try to knock Kizer out of the game. It will be a brawl. They also got an extra week to prepare.

i just hope we win because otherwise I'll have to listen to my insufferable brother-in-law whose daughter went to BC. Every time they beat us, he rubs it in. I've never been anything but gracious when we win.

This 2015 Notre Dame team is the best we have had since 93. The BC team is the worst they have had in years. ND has beat BC like 5 or 6 times in a row.
Nothing to be worried about. Especially with Will Fuller, Kizer, Adams, Jaylon, Elijah, CJ Prosise, Sheldon Day, Roneo Okwara and the whole Oline and many others,

I have no worries about the Irish not winning this game. I think we win something like 24 to 3 or something like that. BC has no offense-----I would be more worried if BC had a good offense and a bad defense then what they have now-- a great D but no Offense.
You will see, This is a different Irish team--they are tight--got each others backs)

HDK, ever since BC 1993 I always worry. I haven't been the same since that game. Lol. All kidding aside, I just know in the history of ND football certain teams always give ND fits. BC is one of those teams. On paper the Irish are always more talented. But somehow when these two teams play, more often than not, BC gives the Irish trouble. I hope this week I'm wrong and the Irish show up and give a beat down. History says that won't happen. I guess I always channel my inner " Lou Holtz ". It's always best to talk up your opponent and then give them your full fury. Let's hope that's the case this week.

I'll never forget the 93' game. Was at the game, and we played/slept through the first 3+ quarters. Did our damage from the 8 minute mark on in the 4th, but gave them a final drive, with their kicker (Gordon) making the kick of his life. If Bercich makes the simple INT, we wouldn't have this memory :-(

But that BC team had talent on both sides of the ball, this one doesn't

Bodizephax sums it up pretty well. BC has a very good defense, but literally no offense. Without some significant injuries, the O might be average and the team around .500. I'd love to think BC can pull off a miracle, but that's not likely. There will be a little excitement/atmosphere to start the game. If ND commits multiple turnovers, maybe BC can hang in there, but the offense is probably the worst in BC history.

You look at some of the BC wins and as long as ND doesn't turn it over 10 times like they did in 2002 (BC won 9 games that year) or play completely horrible football they should win. I mean in 2007 ND was about as bad as ND has been in the history of the program and only lost by 13 to one of the best BC teams in 20 years. Even the 1993 game BC was 9-3. So this is all on ND. If they play they win and should do so well enough to stay relevant.

BC will play hard but they seriously lack skill players. As others have said, If ND can't blow out BC then they don't deserve a playoff spot.

This is why you play the game!

BC is the only other Catholic D1 school and many of the kids (students for sure) had as their first school of choice, Notre Dame, so the rivalry is intense. That is a good thing. ND has better players, better coaches and should win big, but this is why you play the game.

It should be shelved regardless because we have games to play. I remember the same talk last year after 5 games and look what happened. I also remember being at that FSU game in 93 and then watching the next week as we lost to BC so anything can happen. Oh and the injuries continue to add up as Cage won't be playing and that is a big loss in the middle, we have to stop their run because unless their QB plays terrible we won't stop their passing game and that is just the team we have.

This is BC's title game and they hate us so don't expect an easy game by any means. I think we should win but it is on the road and I will be very happy if we can get out to a 14 pt lead, keep their offense in check, and come out with a 31-14 victory.

We win this game going away. The mantra of "X" always gives ND trouble did not ring true with this team. The pessimists seem to have transformed from "we will lose a game we shouldn't" to "although we beat that team by 21, we didn't look dominant" or "we still gave up a TD late to only win by 2 TDs". I think this is a product of having leaders with exceptional talent. Kizer is beyond his years in leadership and poise. His talent for a RS sophomore is exceptional. The combination gives us something we have not had in a long time. Day and Kizer are driving this team. That substantially reduces the likelihood of a slip.

Yes, it is a lock

Beach, I know you are very knowledgeable and I hope you are correct. I think ND will win but its gonna be a dog fight. ND should have rolled Temple and WF. Both games were tough. Last week the Irish struggled against a team they clearly were better than. Same with Temple. I do not think all of a sudden (Baylor) shows up (sarcasm) and hangs 50 on BC. I am happy to just get a win. We will see how this plays out.

It's just iMO but BC has one of the worst offenses in CFB. I think you win by 17
