BAS: Notre Dame wins ACC series with Pitt with 8-6 victory on Sunday

Estevan Moreno helped Notre Dame to an early 8-0 lead with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored, and the host Irish held on to win the rubber game of their three-game ACC baseball series with Pitt on Sunday, 8-6, at Eck Stadium.

David Glancy followed a four-hit game Saturday with two more hits in three at-bats Sunday and two runs scored for the Irish (25-21, 9-18 ACC). Notre Dame has won 10 of its last 13 games.

Conor Hincks and Brady Gumpf had two RBIs apiece. Hincks had two hits, while Gumpf had a double. Rory Fox (2-1) started, went five innings and got the win.

Nate Hardman pitched a hitless/scoreless ninth inning, with two strikeouts, in picking up his fifth save of the season. Pitt falls to 19-24 overall and 6-18 in ACC play.

Notre Dame has final exams in the classroom this week and then steps out of ACC play this weekend to host Toledo (23-25) for a three-game series, beginning Friday night.
