Former Notre Dame first baseman Niko Kavadas was promoted Friday in the Boston Red Sox's farm system, moving up from the low Class A Salem (Va.) Red Sox to the high A Greenville (S.C.) Drive. In his Greenville debut, he homered and went 2-for-3. In his second game with the Drive -- on Saturday -- he homered again and went 2-for-4. Combined with the 59 games he played at Salem and the 192 at-bats there, Kavadas is slashing .296/.456/.638 with 16 home runs and 52 RBIs in his first full minor-league season.
