How can you blame the committee?? Hell the past 2 weeks we haven't played like a top 25 team let alone a top 4 team! So uninspired!!

The ND fan in me wants to say the committee sucks. The rational college football fan in me agrees. We played like shit for 2 weeks against inferior opponents and it caught up to us.

Look at Iowa's schedule.. Can you honestly say they have a better resume than ND? I don't see it. Single digit wins over Pitt, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota. Same goes for MSU, it's not either of these B10 teams are crushing competition. I hate the impressive WIN garbage, a win should be a win.

Only thing we had to do was beat 2 really bad teams soundly and look somewhat competent. We did neither. Only our team to blame.

Barely beating FCS caliber teams?

As I recall, ND beat Wake by three touchdowns. That's not "barely".

BC had the #1 ranked defense going into the game. They had 34 points scored by Clemson and that was the highest amount scored on them this year. ND dominated the game Saturday and left at least 21 points on the field due to the turnovers. That game was never in doubt, so that was not "barely" either.

Iowa body of work????? DNP = Mich St. Mich TOSU or Penn St.
They jumped ND because they beat Purdue by 20?

Totally agree on the big ten comments. Iowa would be an underdog against everyone in the top 10 and deservedly so. Msu gets too much credit for beating an avg OSU team.

It's complete bullshit, but we need to live with it. I will root hard for ND (my school), but I'm done with college football. This playoff system and selection process us a complete farce.

so let me get this straight...you WIN a close game against a 3-7 team on a night when you have 5 TOS and you fall 2 spots and get jumped by 3 spots to a team that lost to a 4-6 team on a night where they were out-gained by 100 yards and only had 1 turnover.

so id rather beat a bad team, then lose to them.

Exactly my thoughts.

I wouldn't call BC and Wake FCS caliber teams like the OP did, but they're poor teams that true playoff contenders should be putting away with ease at this stage of the season. We beat Wake by a few scores, but we played poorly. And against BC we played even more poorly. Turnovers are part of the game. You can't just say "if we didn't have a million turnovers, we would have dominated." Well, we did have the million turnovers (and they weren't the plain horrible luck kind). They're the mark of team that, in those two most recent games, has not been playing at a high level.

I hope we beat the cr@p out of Stanford, and get back in the playoffs. But if we play like we have the last two weeks, we have no chance. And the new injuries don't help either.

I'm not surprised we dropped though I thought we'd be 5th. All the Irish can do is beat Stanford and hope for the best. The committee is showing a pro-conference bias but that should come as no surprise.

This whole committee voting is pure bullshit. Every mouth piece on TV can spin any narrative they want favoring any team they want. The committee does the same. Just look how Ohio State has been ranked all year. Now they finally play a ranked team (at home no less) and loss, and still stay in the top 8. Based on what? Seems strength of schedule doesn't mean dick. My plan is to enjoy Saturday's game vs. Stanford and our bowl game, and not really give a crap about the rest of College Football

If a "win should be a win" then how in the world can you argue against Iowa? Makes no sense.

You make a good point. It does appear that the committee didn't put much stock in the common opponent criteria when it comes to Texas and Pitt. I wouldn't be surprised to see Iowa lose this week, Oklahoma not so much. We can always hope Penn State hangs with MSU, heck Rutgers did.
