Hey all,

I know this topic gets rehashed quite often, but if you would be so kind, would you mind giving some recommendations on things to do on campus/in the area, and/or best places to eat if you are arriving the day before gameday.

My brother and nephew are going to the game on Saturday and arrived in SB about an hour ago. First time for both of them, so I thought I'd go to the experts and pass along some ideas for them to make the most of the trip.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks so much...I texted my brother the link to this thread and told him to continually check for updates.

Any food places you endorse?....My nephew is only 11, so bars are probably a no go ;-)

First, there will be goodwill ambassadors all over the place on campus handing out the event schedule for the weekend, or you can get it from und.com.

Must sees:
Golden dome building (from the inside)
Basilica
Grotto
ND Sports HOF in the Joyce ACC.

Other possibilities:
Bookstore (oh, spend some money, we all know you want to)
Stadium tour (will be ended when and if GT has a walk through this afternoon)
Pep Rally (see schedule mentioned above for time and location)
Purcell Pavilion
Compton
Pictures with TJ in the background (That's Touchdown Jesus, not TJ Jones)

Walk every inch of campus, there's many inches. See the lakes.

If they like College dive bars go to The Linebacker tonight. Cheap beer will be all over the floor...decent music and they play the Notre Dame Fight song. At Eddy Street Commons across the street from Campus is Brothers which is also good if looking for night life on a Friday night as well as The Mark Restaurant which I think is very good.

Cheers! Go Irish
