Just wondering how many of you are concerned with our new field goal kicker Yoon . So far he's been shaky at best and has missed a few which as of yet hasn't cost us. For someone with all the hype,he appears a little overwhelmed with the atmosphere and wondering if Kelly will put him in at crunch time !!!!!!

Justin Yoon is 3 out 5 on field goals---2 important kicks early in the game to help us sneak by Virginia. And he has been perfect on extra points.
1 of the misses was very close.

I would not call that "Shaky at best". Especially for college.

I think he will go down as a great kicker at ND. He will hit his groove and I think he will be Mr. Automatic.

he isn't an automatic stud yet but hes new, has the leg, and im sure will be fine as he gains experience. im told he has consistant 55 yard range and is expected to be a great kicker before hes done in South Bend.

as far as I know we have nothing close to that behind him on the depth chart

I'm concerned with his leg strength, his 45 yarder just squeaked by. I definitely see leg strength as an issue outside of 40 yards. It will be a little bit alarming to watch a kicker the next 4 years struggle with distance outside of 40 yds, you'll see a lot of ND going for it on 4th and short around the 30-35 yd line.

I thought this kid was the top HS kicker in the country? What happens to kickers when they get to SB?

I think he could be the most accurate kicker in the country. Didn't he have a huge injury last year? Maybe he's not 100% with his strength, maybe he'll never have the pop I don't know. All i can say is his kicks aren't very powerful, but he does look like he could be extremely accurate and consistent.

The first kick he missed was from I thought 45 yards or so. From what I could tell the ball had another 10 or 15 yards left in it. Frankly I don't have the knowledge to question his leg strength. Also, I've never done it, but I imagine being at midfield in front of 70,000 screaming fans and trying to kick a field goal is something that might take a little getting used to. I'm willing to give him a game or 2 to get acclimated.

He's got plenty of leg strength. In practice he has hit 65 yarders with room to give. Game conditions change things but the raw strength is there

Good kickers will take some off the ball to make sure the accuracy is there. He knows how far out he is and it doesn't matter how far he cleared the cross bar but rather IF he cleared it.
LLOOOONNNNGGGG FG attempts you see the kicker hit it on the point of contact a little higher on the football to get the extra velocity for the distance.....at times for the expense of accuracy. Also why you see a lot of the really long attempts get blocked because the kicker is trying to get it that far and the ball comes out of the hold lower.

blindfold him during practices; he should be so drilled with the timing, steps and strike that he can do it blindfolded!
then in games do it! with ear muffs!

I agree with 88ND......I think Yoon probably just took a little umpfff of the kicks trying to ensure more accuracy. I think he will be great as the season goes on. You can watch videos of him.....he's definitely more than just a 45 yard kicker. Aguayo for Florida State is Mr. Automatic right now.....and until he's gone he will own that title in the NCAA. Hopefully Yoon will eventually be that caliber of a kicker.

Since we don't have another one better, yes.

70,000? Notre Dame Stadium holds 80,000+.

^^^That would be very relevant if they didn't play at UVA. I don't have the capacities of all the stadiums memorized like you. Capacity at UVA is 62,000. I'm sure an experienced d-bag like yourself could tell the difference between 62k and 70k. ^^^
