Anyone think Zaire's numbers would be that good in the opener?

Absolutey not. I was afraid Kelly would put him in a strait jacket, but to his credit he didn't. Two years in a row that we have beaten a tradiitonally powerful foe (although both in down cycles) badly in the opener. That's definitely a good thing.

Listening to the Notre Dame-related podcast (ISD, Irish247, Irish Illustrated), they all felt Kelly would rely on the running game more and ease Zaire into the game. I fell into that same boat, but this might have been Kelly's best game play calling wise, since the Oklahoma game in 2012. If this is Zaire easing into the offense, I can't wait to see him unleashed.

I thought he would maybe run better....but not look that sharp throwing the ball. He did have all day to throw.the ball....KUDOS to HH and the beef for that. Clean up the flags and that O Line may be our biggest weapon.

Never expected an 80+ completion percentage. He has taken his game to a new level.

His running could have been better, but it's a long season. He got the yards he needed to get and got out of bounds. No need to take unnecessary hits this early in the season.

Read what I said again please. I did not think he would look as sharp as he did throwing the ball. He was amazing in the pocket. I even elaborated by discussing the OL.

I thought it would be more on the supporting cast and less on Zaire in the opener.

Granted Texas didn't offer much resistance, but hopefully the growth from this game to next, and in prep for GTECH prepares them.
