Anybody see that?

With the score tied 24-24 and Alabama lined up to kick … team bunched up close to ball and kicker floated his kick about 15 yards where the Alabama guy on the end caught it on the run. They must really practice that kick.

My understanding is that once the ball has travelled beyond a 10 yard plane then anyone can catch or recover it. Ball does not have to be touched by the receiving team or the ground before the kicking team can get it.

legal play. only question was if someone on bama was offsides. when the replay went slow - it looked alright. close, but it looked like the outside guy waited barely long enough and was onsides.

That was the game winning play.

Never seen a play better executed than that one. Never.

Bama is a dynasty.

in High School and Pros the ball has to touch the ground or the receiving team.... but in College that was totally legal. The Evil Genius, Saban, saw that Clemson was bunching up on kickoffs leaving that side of the field open. If any Tiger had been over there, he could have called for the Fair Catch and Bama would have had to leave it alone,,, but since it was wide open for a steal... the Tide Took It.

A gamble ? It sure looked easy,, no doubt because Saban had practiced that play - a lot and saw the tendency in film. Nick is the GOAT.

And had BK tried that in a game, he would have been crucified on this Board, regardless of whether or not it was successful.

The key is that nobody from Clemson was close enough to the ball to legitimately signal for a fair catch, which is the risk with a pop up style on-side kick.

Unfortunately for Clemson they got rattled after the onside kick when the score was 24-24. This play was pure evidence of that. Alabama is lined up in a traditional trips formation with the TE away or what I call a Dead Side. Clemson responds with what looks to be an adjusted cover 2 look to the trips. This means the Safety to the TE side should be responsible for any vertical threat by #2. I can't for the life of me figure out A) why he is taking so many steps forward? How he lets the TE run by him? There was no play action fake to hold him as the back runs a wheel route. The LB and CB play this well but what was he doing?

It actually looked like Dabo called a TO and the sideline guy did not give it to him
Watched the highlights on ESPN, but cannot see Clemson'ss coach, on that sideline, maybe someone taped the full play and can see the Coach and look for TO signal. Would have made sense if he saw the poor Clemson alignment on the kick off.
off topic, since Bengals are out again, GOOOOOO Packers!

Dabo post game said the did the same kick last year against south carolina and we're penalized for it that's why he was going crazy. Side note also seen yesterday that calvin ridley is a 21 year old true freshman. Just another example of a player Nd could never sign. Kid could only play 3 games his Sr year due to age restrictions.

Wait a minute - you're allowed to practice special teams??
What is this blasphemy you speak of??

kelly has zero and I mean zero commonality with saban. One's a champ the others a chump.

So yeah, challenging kelly's in game decisions is fair game. The guy can't add....
