Eastlake (Ohio) North class of 2022 offensive lineman Ryan Baer will be taking an official visit to Notre Dame June 25-27, per a source. Baer cancelled an official visit with Tennessee in favor of going out to see Notre Dame.
Baer is excited to visit Notre Dame that weekend and have the opportunity to meet five-star Zach Rice and Notre Dame's two offensive line pledges, Ty Chan and Joey Tanona.
Notre Dame offered Baer May 25 and quickly became a school to watch in his recruitment.
“Notre Dame is the best of both worlds with football and academics," he said. "If you want to go to school for both, then they’re probably one of the top schools in the country. It’s amazing.”
Baer officially visited Virginia June 4, Illinois June 11 and heads to Kentucky June 18. He took unofficials to Pitt and Ohio State this month; the Buckeyes are looming and may offer him. Notre Dame will get him June 25, and I believe Michigan State will host him at some point too.
You have to like Notre Dame here, but I haven't heard one way or the other where he's leaning quite yet. Notre Dame is also recruiting other offensive linemen, so it will certainly be interesting.
Rivals.com's Josh Helmholdt on Baer: "Prior to last month's Rivals Camp in Indianapolis, we last saw Ohio lineman Ryan Baer live just before his junior season started. The physical growth between those two events was significant, with Baer checking in at a very comfortable 6-foot-8 and 331 pounds. This [rankings] update [where he was bumped to four-stars] also includes a position move for Baer from guard to tackle, where he showed the foot speed and agility to handle edge rushers."
