Does anyone know how those work? Is there any chance the faculty board didn't allow EG's application to come back for grad school based on his previous academic transgressions? No trying to start any rumors. I'm just trying to think of possibilities why he wouldn't come back.

No. He was a student in good standing, graduating on time. He would have been accepted if he had applied.

only surprised that so many are expressing surprise.
so let's get behind Wim!

and, This is not going to be excuse #1 - there are no excuses acceptable in '15 - none!

I doubt Wim will beat out Zaire...

BK's statement certainly made it sound like they were not surprised. Its tough to judge that though. He has to express "extreme confidence" in his new starter.

no Wim will not beat out MZ; but he just became a very important part of the '15 team.
what happen to the "I would be 'shocked'" statement? by Kelly; oye!
note: this would be a "hot topic" - if there were still posters on this board!

oh and 1 more thing:
Gunner left and he was afraid to compete so then that means EG is afraid to compete - right?
or was the former an argument of convenience?

apples and oranges. stupid to attempt to compare two TOTALLY different situations.

My ND glass is "almost full". If EG thought he was better and would play enough to be a Heisman candidate...IMO he stays. He saw enough to conclude MZ will get ALOT of snaps and if EG still created turnovers...he'd be benched. So my conclusion....as I also stated last season....MALIK ZAIRE is our STARTER.....and a LEADER......hope he has a Tony Rice year!!!

I agree this is completely different than Kiel's situation.

It is strange that EG didn't talk with the press all spring long. It seems to me that maybe he just put his head down and put in the work to get his degree so he could move on.

It may end up being good for everyone involved: Golson gets to be the undisputed #1. Zaire gets to be the undisputed #1. Kizer gets meaningful practice snaps. Wimbush gets meaningful practice snaps.

it is hypocritical to criticize Gunner and give EG a pass; fact is both simply made decisions that they think is in their best interest. W/o fault.

Wimbush is much further along than any QB Kelly has had - and he is bigger, with a bigger arm and faster and stronger than EG; but most importantly: he is a QB and not just an athlete playing QB.

Kiel comitted to Indiana then LSU(didn't show up for the first day of classes) then Notre Dame. He got yelled at by coach Martin and didn't even finish spring ball. If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck and shits like a duck.....
At least Everett did his mea culpa and came back played and got his degree.
