While Notre Dame football got its own 2024 and 2025 commits and high-profile 2025 targets on campus for games this season, the Irish also hosted several intriguing 2026 prospects worth monitoring down the road.
One of those prospects is Jack Utz. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound tight end out of Platee County (Mo.) High has four early offers from Kent State, Iowa State, Missouri and UNLV. The Irish hosted him for an unofficial visit in September for their win vs. Central Michigan and made a good first impression.
Inside ND Sports spoke with Utz to learn more about him, his visit, which schools are showing interest and more.
On his biggest takeaway from visiting Notre Dame:
"But what I liked the most was my options outside of football," Utz said. "They made sure I knew that football isn’t the only thing in life and that Notre Dame has so many different options after football with career opportunities."
On the game-day environment:
“The atmosphere was amazing … different than any other school I have visited. I could tell the fans are very loyal and dedicated. That made for a very electric stadium.
On what he’d think of an offer:
"From what I’ve seen, Notre Dame is an amazing school. I would love to keep growing a relationship with the Irish. I would be blessed to receive an offer from any school ... but if Notre Dame were to bless me with an offer I would be beyond excited to have the opportunity."
Utz said he's a tight end best suited in a pro-style offense that involves blocking responsibilities ans also vertical routes where the tight end can stretch the defense.
Utz has also visited Wisconsin, Missouri, Iowa State, Illinois and Kansas State this season. Missouri offered Utz right before his visit. He’s planning to return to Notre Dame next summer for camp.
