I believe that ND will take 4 OL in this class, with two already committed. The guys already in fold, Dillan Gibbons and Josh Lugg are both really good players, who will steadily rise in the rankings, particularly if they hit the camp circuit this spring / summer. The best is yet to come, however... Hiestand has built really good relationships with many of the best OL in the country, and I expect the next commitment to come from one of these 4 guys...

5 star OT Foster Sarrell
5 star OG Wyatt Davis
4/5 star OT Jedrick Wills
4 star OT Trey Smith

Thanks IIO. Looks good. Hey, how about a prediction of the WR spot this year? Holmes ran a blazing Fuller-like 40. How do you see that position shaking out. We have a lot of talent!

Looking for game changers on the defensive line in 2017 . Everybody says Kelly is an offensive minded coach , but what do we do , just try to out score opponents.?

Recruited 4- star defensive ends Kareem and Okwara in 2016 . Need a lot more help especially after next season , losing Jones , Rochell

Dew Treadway, Tiassum, Bonner, Hayes ,Blankenship ,Trumbetti , Mokwuah, Cage, Matuska , Taylor, Dickerson, and freshmen Kareem and Okwara . Seems like we have numbers, but who really steps up ?

You can't be expecting much from Ok, Kareem & Hayes : Fr.
Rochelle , JT and Jones are good players; Jones is coming off major injury.
Behind them, you have #'s, but the group lacks impact players or even obvious playoff level starters.
Where will the DL pass rush pressure come from?

So, if the past tells fans anything it is that injuries will happen to the D and ND will go deep into the depth chart. By mid-season the lamentations blaming injuries will be read; and the most recent classes defensive recruiting misses will start to show along the DL.
However, this will not prevent the springtime talk of playoffs and/or of 12-0 NC contention.
And soon CB's from Loy with the annual predictions of the Top 5 recruiting class!

Oh,
Offensively, the team will be potent and exciting.

deja vu all over again

about the D

I read thread/article after thread/article how it is not the scheme or design, but what is the reality?
There is the real reality(empirically provable)and then there is the practical reality (actuality)

If it is not th scheme then it is the players.
If it is the players then, is the DC not getting the most out of his players?
If it is not the under performing players then is it the players matching up within the scheme?
If the players are misfits to the scheme, then it is the scheme.

The thing to note is if one starts by saying there is NO PROBLEM, then there will be no addressing the problem, because it does not exist. If there is no problem then which reality is in play?

Deja Vu as in you have posted that same comment thousands of times? You can actively discuss spring position battles without de-valuing the players or posting the same asinine drivel year after year.
He doesn't know if the ball is pumped or stuffed. Broken record that is wrong as often as Irishnumberone. Miserable grumpy old man.

Where did you hear Holmes ran that fast?

It's not unreasonable to expect a major contribution from 1-2 frosh. We've gotten that almost every year.

And if the last few years are your guide, the lesson is that there is no way to predict injuries.
In 2011 and 2012 we stayed very healthy on defense almost all year...in route to great defense (with questionable to limited offenses).
In 2014 and 2015 we had massive injures on defense that eventually hammered out ability to play at the level we should.

We have more than enough talent to be a good defense in 2016, but we'll need improvement for a number of players, the coaching staff, and relatively good fortune on player health

It will certainly be intetesting to see how it all shakes out...but there is very good reason to be optimistic

We have the talent to be a Top25 level defense
