The reverse to Cam Smith and the screen to Alize Mack were going to be huge gains. Smith bobbled the exchange because he reached with his hands and Mack had another drop. ND needs to clean up the mistakes going forward against the 2nd half schedule.

Anytime there’s a drop or miscue, it’s disappointing. The play call I didn’t understand was the QB sneak on 4th and a long two.
That was almost a full 2 yards.
That was a Charlie Weis play.

Thought the entire game was sloppy Had trouble running the ball against NC? A few big runs but overall not a well played game Take a W anytime Just not best effort When is Mack going to come into his own?

What?
ND ran for 341 yards with 6.0 ypc & two players over a 100 yards.

They didn’t struggle, they worked on a few things. They tried both Kraemer & Hainsey (Freshmen) on the right side after Bars got hurt & Bivin got multiple false starts.

So ND played on the road with 2 Freshmen on the same side of the OL & still went for 341 rushing.

I think they get to " cute' at times . For example , after Adams ran a 73 yard TD run they didn't run the ball for the next 6 plays with a RB. Don't understand that. Mistakes can happen but that 4th and 2 QB sneak was atrocious. No excuse for that at all. If anything punt the ball there and put the D in a good position . This is a good week for them to clean up some "issues" such as ESB reestablishing himself as a top WR as he was projected early on. Settle in on Claypool as the #2 WR and IMO add a wrinkle by using Adams in the slot with Dex in the backfield .. And the jet sweep with Dex getting downhill with misdirection would be lethal .Not all the time just a wrinkle.

Oh... I thought u were going to mention.... the block ... that Alize Mack or jones.. or whatever the f....he calls himself....whiffed on... that tony jones jr... would have had a nice little gain on..

I was beside myself over that play. When he came off the field I saw BK (calmly) speaking to him. My thought is it was an option for the QB to call, but he made a poor decision in not adjusting or changing the play based on the look. If not, that was a boneheaded coaching decision, the guy weighs about 180lbs and he was trying to sneak from 2 yards away...head scratcher.

Lol...
That was definitely one of those BK executive decisions that he makes like no other.

So far on the year that was about his only WTF decision.

Sadly the year is far from over and I've no doubt at the next moment of truth time in the biggest of games he'll shine through with a decision to go for it, then, not sure, then timeout, then punt.

You know...a decision that's just legend.

Except Weis would have called it with five wideouts, forcing the defense to spread out too.

Weiselichek love the sneak on 4th and inches but I've never heard of them trying to get 2 yds.

Interesting you saw the game differently. Sloppiest game in s long time. IMO. You did not see repeated failed run attempts? Sure we had run yards but there were big plays. Not consistent.

If I were guessing, we chose speed over accuracy there, tried to get the play off really fast, didn't have a handle on the yardage needed. It was a good two yards.

I think it’s the worst game we’ve played this year

Totally agree. Different QB with different cadence, the defense not respecting Book’s running, a pretty vanilla game, and the offense knowing they were physically superior, etc... all contributed to a pretty sloppy game. That said, in years past we seemed to keep these games a lot closer than warranted.

Yes. Next years OL should look like this. Eichenberg, Kraemer, Mustipher, Bars and Hainsey

Unless ND can flip Cade Mays from Tennessee. I'd give him a chance to start from day 1 at either tackle spot. He's a legit 5 star and a complete monster.

As to the OP, the QB sneak was terrible, both as a call and in execution. One other play that I thought was disappointing was the great blitz by Nyles, only to miss the sack; and then partially redeemed by getting up and making the tackle on their QB after a twelve yard gain. Great blitz, terrible missed sack, incredible hustle and speed to get up and pursue for the tackle.

But the best game for the defense. Sure, UNC was bad but the tackling, physicality and pressure was their best overall performance of the season.

Incredible hustle play (he's had a number of them this year) there. Credit the QB a little there. He was slippery and sneaky strong all game.
