What is the return on the investment when Rees is using 12 and 13 personnel grouping? Is it worth using a 2nd tight end and taking out Avery Davis? Is using Joe Alt, who is never going to run a route worth taking out Chris Tyree for example? Is it worth running George Takacs in routes when the QB never looks for him? Multiple times this year he has been wide open, and know one looks his way. Lets take a look at the results in 12 and 13 personnel in the 1st half.

Drive #1
1. 13 - Alt in and Cincy jumps offsides.
2. 13 - Zone run gains 2 yards.
3. 12 - Mayer and Takacs split out and they throw to Williams for a 1st down.
4. 12 - Boot pass to Mayer for a loss of 3 yards.
5. 12 - Coan interception, but if Coan is not zeroed in on Austin you have Takacs crossing for a wide open TD to start the opening drive.

Drive #2
1. 12 - Run a zone sweep pulling Carmody and Patterson with Carmody on a bad ankle whiffs on his block and the run gains 2 yards.
2. 12 - Lugg false starts.

Drive #3
1. Buchner is in the game and they do not use any multiple tight end sets.

Drive #4
1. 12 - Buchner keeps it for no gain on this play. If he just reads the defensive end coming up field and he gives it to C-Bo they have a big inside run.

Drive #5...Chris Tyree fumbles KOR.

Drive #6
1. 12 - 4 yard physical run by Williams.

Drive #7
1. 13 - Play action incomplete pass to Mayer with max protection.

Drive #8
No 12 or 13 with ND in 2 backs throwing check downs with 35 seconds to go down 17-0.

In watching the film I do not see what Rees is gaining with using multiple tight ends. More tight ends with a very weak offensive line means they will face 9 men in the box. If they keep using the tight ends then Rees needs to attack these 1 on 1 matchups on the perimeter more often.
