our 15th ranked 16-3 irish take on an 11-8 Syracuse squad that isn't playing as well this year as past cuse teams but they are a team that brey struggles against year after year and so don't be surprised if this game comes down to the wire. game starts at noon on espn

Bust that Cuse zone!

If they lose this game they lose all are their Mojo. I hope they win.

I just saw that 10th ranked florida st takes on the 12th ranked cardinals afterwards on espn at 2 pm which should be a hell of a game

Well a pretty solid 1st half considering Bonzie Colson was on the bench for a large part of it. :)

ND got lazy and complacent the last couple of minutes. They need to regroup, the game is far from done.

I know The Cuse didn't have a good record coming into this game, but it is still a big win for ND. The Cuse are loaded with talent, and they were saying ND hadn't beaten them in 5 years.

Great win after that tough loss to fsu.

VJ always seems to play well against syracuse. Scored 22 against them in a loss last year. Guess syracuse's zone can't find a way to cover all ND's 3 point shooters, and VJ gets open.

just curious . why is ND only bringing in one player next year ???? Makes no sense at all. They will left with only 3 guards . Farrell, Phluger and Gibbs. How can you play with 3 guards??? Vasturia and VJ both leave and the incoming Frosh AA is a Forward. 3 guards ? Am I missing something ?

They've got Elijah Burns, John Mooney, and Nikola Djogo. Djogo is a guard. Check out his highlights on Youtube, it looks like he can handle the ball.

they went hard after a couple of one and done centers but they chose to go elsewhere

torres announced Thursday night on the mike brey radio show that he is coming back for a fifth year in case nobody knew

We can really use somebody big. Geben is improving, still not there ... and I believe he has only one year left. Torres will help, but he's not really that big, just plays bigger than his height really is, like Colson.

The way he has played the last few games, that is a good thing........It was nice to have a game that didn't go down to the last minute for once.

Djogo and Harvey are big guard / small forward types, similar to Beachem. Djogo is a 6'7 shooter with athleticism and Harvey is 6'6 hybrid Vasturia / Grant, that can shoot.

Next year ND will play....

F: Martin Geben
F: Bonzie Golson
G: Rex Pflueger
G: TJ Gibbs
G: Matt Farrell

Bench
F: Austin Torres
F: John Mooney
G: Nik Djogo
G: DJ Harvey

When ND wants to go big to start, Gibbs will come off the bench and Ryan will start.

We lose SV. I believe Djogo and Harvey fit that role. They can play the 2 or 3 like SV.

Just getting Harvey this class could catch up to us in a few years but not next year in my mind. I am hoping for a late developing big with Geben's size but more mobility this year. Djogo is part of the 2017 class in my mind because he redshirted. Boy we lost a good one in Morsell. I just hope we don't end up with late pickups like Peoples and Harden. Carter and Farrell were late pickups who worked well.

If we don't get 3 or more ACC quality bodies in the 2018 class, I will be bummed. We might end up with another Cooley, Broghammer, Brooks and Knight like class where only one was a big east guy. That would it hard for us to continue with our ACC success.

I like the names I am hearing for 2018 like Carmody and others. I am a bit surprised Brey can't get more since he is just seems to be a superior guy to play for.

This how I look at it but I think Burns will sneak in there somewhere. it does look crowded down low at the power forward position though. I did not expect to see Torres add the production he has had recently to his energy. There have been a number of surprises this year. I wonder if Ayers and Humphrey have anything to do with that.

this isn't how he said it word for word but basically coach brey said in his radio show Thursday that DJ Harvey didn't make the McDonalds all-American game but he told him that he was glad that he didn't because now he won't have the pressure of having to come in and be an impact player right away and instead can slowly learn

Harvey will see minutes like Gibbs is this year. Both are excellent recruits and should be very good players.
I'm really hoping ND finds a grad transfer to add to this team. Either a scoring wing that replaces a little bit of Beachem's game, or a true 6'10+ forward that can protect the rim. There has to be an upgrade over Geben out there. Would love to see a legit big guy, with Colson at the 4, and Rex, TJ and Matt on the floor as a 3 guard tandem.

VJ Beachem reminds me of Trevor Ariza. Very similar build, outside shooting ability, and on-court personality. He has to keep what he did today rolling and he'll cash in big this summer. Him playing like this and add in Farrell, plus Vasturia and this team is lethal.

I don't know much about basketball but how hard is it to find a 6'10" forward? I don't see many people that tall in my day to day life.

Hahaha they're out there! ND needs to find a guy who developed well at a mid major and would like the opportunity to get a free year or grad school in South Bend.

Playing a 2-3 against this team is suicide...way to many good shooters. I didn't see the game but I am willing to bet that Beachem's 2 jams were from behind the zone after quick ball reversal....or off of penetration....
