Your "summer camp" memories

Fifty years ago things were a lot different. In high school....Coaches would not give us water....unless really hot then only a sip from a hose. Had 3 weeks of two-a-days and a few 3-a-days thrown in. All practices in full pads.

In college we got up at 5 am so we could practice before the summer heat set in.....frosh had to drag a long 150 foot rubber hose over the grass to shake off the dew. No media anywhere.

Best coaching motto early in the morning: "Don't count the days, make the days count."

I can remember non-players, especially girls, commenting on how stupid football players must be to tolerate this kind of treatment.
