Kasey Choma scored the game-winning goal with 10 seconds left in regulation as the Notre Dame women’s lacrosse team upended sixth-seeded Florida, 16-15, in an NCAA Tournament second-round game in Gainesville, Fla.

The Irish (15-5) advance to a quarterfinal matchup Thursday (2:30 p.m. EDT; ESPNU) at third-seeded Boston College (17-3). The Eagles are 2-0 this season against Notre Dame, winning 12-11 in South Bend on April 8, and 9-4 on April 28 in the ACC Tournament semis in Charlotte, N.C.

Four of Notre Dame’s five losses this season have come to the teams seeded 1 (Northwestern), 2 (Syracuse) and 3 (BC) in the NCAA Tournament.

ND reached the quarterfinals of the NCAAs for the sixth time in school history after Florida (17-4) rallied from a four-goal, fourth-period deficit to tie the game on a goal by Danielle Pavinelli with 1:22 left.

Choma followed 72 seconds later off an assist from Jane McAvoy for her fourth goal of the game, her third of the fourth period and her 68th of the season. The senior from Manorville, N.Y., also had two assists in the game.

Senior Jackie Wolak led the Irish with five goals and two assistants. Senior Madison Ahern had a hat trick and an assist.

The Irish had a 29-19 command in shots on goal, but junior Lilly Callahan stopped just four Gator shots.
