Newcomers Kylee Watson and Lauren Ebo made themselves at home as the ninth-ranked Notre Dame women’s basketball team warmed up for its Nov. 7 season opener with a 92-47 exhibition victory over Truman State.
Watson, a 6-foot-4 junior forward and Oregon transfer, joined ND’s four returning starters in the starting lineup and finished with 14 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots. Texas transfer Ebo, a 6-4 grad senior center, added 14 points and six boards off the bench.
Sophomore Sonia Citron, the reigning ACC Freshman of the Year, led the Irish with 17 points, 14 rebounds, four assists and four of ND’s 16 steals. Fellow sophomore Olivia Miles, a preseason All-America guard, contributed 16 points and eight assists.
Junior Maddy Westbeld was the fifth ND player to reach double digits, with 13 points.
Notre Dame opens the season for real at 7 p.m. EST on Nov. 7 at home against Northern Illinois.
All nine scholarship players for the Irish saw action in the game and all nine scored. The Irish defense forced 29 turnovers and limited Truman State to 28 percent shooting from the field. Notre Dame held a 55-33 command on the boards over the Bulldogs, an NCAA Division II school located in Kirksville, Mo.
