The Muffet McGraw has been officially unveiled on Notre Dame's campus. Now the Irish women's basketball team will take the court against an old foe.
No. 14 Notre Dame (7-1) will host in-state Purdue (6-4) in Purcell Pavilion at 12 p.m. EST. McGraw won her first national title at Notre Dame with a 68-66 championship game victory over Purdue in 2001.
The two teams haven't met since a 2017 meeting in South Bend that Notre Dame won in overtime. The Irish have won the last eight matchups between the schools but are trailing 13-14 in the all-time series.
This Purdue team is led by fifth-year guard Abbey Ellis, who's averaging 14.3 points per game. Fifth-year guard Jeanae Terry (5-11) does a little bit of everything as the team leader in rebounds (7.4) and assists (6.3) per game.
Notre Dame's roster remains limited with Olivia Miles, Sonia Citron, Cassandre Prosper and Emma Risch all sidelined with injuries. None of them will play today, but head coach Niele Ivey continues to not share specifics on when exactly any of them will be back.
Notre Dame will likely use a starting five of guards Hannah Hidalgo, Anna DeWolfe and KK Bransford and forwards Maddy Westbeld and Kylee Watson.
