Top 22 Defensive Tackles in the 2014 Recruiting Class - Where Are They Now?

Stole this from the MB, Good stuff....

Took all guys rated 4-stars or better - that's how I ended up with 22.

These lists are fun to put together when rap sheets are involved, and this one did not disappoint. I added the #26 guy, as I can't recall anyone having a carjacking arrest on these lists.

Nine of the 22 guys were starters in 2017. Florida State was clearly the big winner here, getting two starting DTs.

Could be a late round pick in this year's NFL Draft

1.) Andrew Brown, Virginia; 5-stars, 6.1 RR, #32 on the Rivals 100, 3rd-best prospect in Virginia; Two-year starter at defensive end for the Cavaliers; Had 46 tackles and 10.5 TFL in 2017; Was a reserve in 2014 and 2015; Projected to be a late round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

2.) Thomas Holley, Florida; 4-stars, 6.0 RR, #56 on the Rivals 100, 2nd-best prospect in New York; Now on a medical due to a chronic hip condition; Appeared in seven games in two seasons in Gainesville.

One of two trainwrecks signed by LSU in this class

3.) Travonte Valentine, Louisiana State; 4-stars, 6.0 RR, #59 on the Rivals 100, 7th-best prospect in Florida; Was booted off LSU's football team TWICE; Couldn't qualify academically so he sat out 2014; then Les Miles booted him for academic and behavioral issues the following summer; He transferred to Arizona Western JUCO and was kicked off the team after a disorderly conduct arrest; Then transferred to Mississippi Gulf Coast (JUCO) and LSU re-signed him; Ed Orgeron then booted him last January; Played in five games for LSU in 2016 and had 10 tackles; After not playing in 2017, Valentine declared himself eligible for the 2018 NFL Draft.

Three-year starter for the Noles

4.) Derrick Nnadi, Florida State; 4-stars, 5.9 RR, #81 on the Rivals 100, 5th-best prospect in Virginia; Three-year starter at nose tackle for Florida State; Was 3rd-team All-ACC in 2017, and 1st-team All-ACC in 2016; Finished career with 165 tackles and 17 TFL.

5.) Josh Frazier, Alabama; 4-stars, 5.9 RR, #86 on the Rivals 100; #1-overall prospect in Arkansas; Reserve nose guard for the Crimson Tide; Finished his career with 28 tackles and 4.5 TFL.

Two-year starter at Florida State

6.) Demarcus Christmas, Florida State; 4-stars, 5.9 RR, #101 on the Rivals 250, 13th-best prospect in Florida; Two-year starter at DT, and has one year of eligibility left; Had 36 tackles, 4.5 TFL and a sack in 2017; Went to the same HS as Tommie Frazier (Bradenton Manatee).

7.) Anthony Moten, UMiami; 4-stars, 5.9 RR, #110 on the Rivals 250, 16th-best prospect in Florida; Reserve DT for Miami in 2017; Started four games as a sophomore in 2015; Finished career with 38 tackles and 3.5 TFL.

One of two Arkansas natives on this list

8.) Bijhon Jackson, Arkansas; 4-stars, 5.9 RR, #112 on the Rivals 250, 2nd-best prospect in Arkansas; Starting DT for the Hogs in 2017, after playing as a reserve in 2014 - 2016; Finished career in Fayetteville with 47 tackles, 9 TFL, and 3.5 sacks.

9.) DeShawn Washington, Texas A&M; 4-stars, 5.9 RR, #119 on the Rivals 250, 14th-best prospect in Texas; No longer in football; Spent two seasons in College Station, redshirting in 2014 and appearing in two games in 2015.

10.) Kendall Baker, Georgia; 4-stars, 5.8 RR, #181 on the Rivals 250, 14th-best prospect in Georgia; Starting left guard for the Bulldogs in 2017; Appeared in two games in 2016 and three games in 2015; Redshirted in 2014.

Michigan State signed two guys on this list - neither one lasted >2 years in East Lansing

11.) Craig Evans, Michigan State; 4-stars, 5.8 RR, #188 on the Rivals 250, #1-overall prospect in Wisconsin; His career is currently in limbo, as he's trying to get academically qualified to play for Oregon State; Sat out the 2017 season due to academic issues; Was booted from Michigan State after testing positive for weed, and spent 2016 at Arizona Western (JUCO); As a redshirt freshman in 2015, Evans played in all 14 games and had 21 tackles and one sack that season.

Arrested in December after threatening to kill people

12.) Zaycoven Henderson, Texas A&M; 4-stars, 5.8 RR, #190 on the Rivals 250, 24th-best prospect in Texas; Two-year starter at DT for the Aggies; Had 25 tackles and 5 TFL in 2017, and 40 tackles and 10 TFL in 2016; Was a reserve in 2014 and 2015; Was arrested this past December on three charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, tampering with evidence and possession of less than two ounces of marijuana; According to the police report, Henderson pointed a rifle at one victim and threatened to kill two others while at the Campus Village Apartments.

Will be a four-year starter for the War Eagles

13.) Dontavius Russell, Auburn; 4-stars, 5.8 RR, #204 on the Rivals 250, 16th-best prospect in Georgia; A three-year starter at DT for Auburn who has one year of eligibility left; Has 117 tackles and 4.5 sacks in his career.

Emerged from Brian Kelly's doghouse in 2017

14.) Jay Hayes, Notre Dame; 4-stars, 5.8 RR, #233 on the Rivals 250, 3rd-best prospect in New York; Starting defensive end for Notre Dame in 2017, and had 27 tackles and one sack on the season; Was a reserve in 2014 and 2016, and took a redshirt in 2015 after getting in Brian Kelly's doghouse that season; Has 39 tackles and 4 TFL in his career.

15.) Dexter Wideman, South Carolina; 4-stars, 5.8 RR, #237 on the Rivals 250, 5th-best prospect in South Carolina; No longer in football and never played a down; Didn't qualify and spent 2014 at Camden Military Academy; Enrolled at South Carolina in January 2015, spent two seasons there, but did not see any action; Announced that he was transferring to FCS South Carolina State last year, but never made it there.

16.) Michael Sawyers, Tennessee; 4-stars, 5.8 RR, #238 on the Rivals 250, 7th-best prospect in Tennessee; Appeared in four games at Tennessee in 2014 before being kicked off the team after that season; Was arrested in March 2015 for breaking into a UT dorm room and stealing some dude's Xbox system;

17.) Garrald McDowell, Ole Miss; 4-stars, 5.8 RR, #242 on the Rivals 250, 16th-best prospect in Louisiana; Recently transferred to Louisiana-Lafayette; Appeared in 26 games as a backup DE at Ole Miss and finished his career there with 33 tackles and two sacks.

Has played fullback and DT for UCLA

18.) Ainuu Taua, UCLA; 4-stars, 5.8 RR, #247 on the Rivals 250, 29th-best prospect in California; Reserve DT for UCLA who tore his ACL and MCL last November; Has 11 tackles in his career; Also played some fullback for the Bruins in 2016 and had two receptions on the season.

Honorable-mention All-ACC in 2017

19.) Ricky Walker, Virginia Tech; 4-stars, 5.8 RR, 9th-best prospect in Virginia; Starting DT for VaTech in 2017; Finished season with 41 tackles, 12.5 TFL, and 4.5 sacks; Named honorable-mention All-ACC; Started four games in 2016 and had 24 tackles and 6.5 TFL that season; Redshirted in 2015 and played as a true freshman in 2014.

20.) Enoch Smith, Michigan State; 4-stars, 5.8 RR, 11th-best prospect in Illinois; Now at Oklahoma State, where he had 14 tackles and 5.5 TFL in 2017; Spent 2016 at Kennedy-King, a Chicago-area JUCO; Had one tackle in three games while at Michigan State.

Starting NT for the Gators

21.) Khairi Clark, Florida; 4-stars, 5.8 RR, 48th-best prospect in Florida; Was Florida's starting nose tackle in 2017, and had 13 tackles on the season; Has 45 tackles and 3 sacks over three seasons; Redshirted in 2014.

22.) Marcus Griffin, Arizona; 4-stars, 5.8 RR, 3rd-best prospect in Washington; Recently announced that he will be a graduate transfer; Appeared in 11 games over three seasons at UA, and had five tackles, one TFL and one pass breakup in his career there.

26.) Trey Lealaimatafao, Louisiana State; 3-stars, 5.7 RR, 43rd-best prospect in Texas; Currently serving a six year prison sentence in the California penal system; Pleaded "no contest" to a pair of second-degree robbery counts and one carjacking count; Was booted from LSU after two separate arrests in Baton Rouge, including an incident where he dug through the pockets of an unconscious man outside a bar and then punched the man’s girlfriend in the face with a closed fist; Spent 2015 at Arizona Western JUCO.
