Another impact pickup from the portal.

Safety, had 85 Tackles last season with Northwestern. Brings a ton of experience and snaps to the secondary. Was Honorable Mention All Big 10 in 23.

Freeman is pissed. That dude is going scorched Earth on the portal. Extremely impressive. The D is loaded.

Freeman is the right guy. I’ve never been more sure of it.

No. He hasn't played safety. He's been a nickel and corner. So he'll be making a position change

I think he's a solid player and could be a better version of DJ Brown if he makes the transition well
I fully expect he starts next to Watts, and I can’t believe he won’t be a significant upgrade from DJ! With Heard and Clark, we added some very good players and tons of experience. Heard‘s position flexibility will be a major plus in my opinion. But to your point, Hope we find really good playing time for the Players you listed. We have seemingly very good talent with this group, Just very limited experience; and they need to be developed. We shouldn’t enter the 25 season thinking we have to hit the portal again for one or both safety positions.

Heard is a good talent. Not a great one. He's going to have to win the job.

Bringing Kiser,Cross and Mills back A+. DB--Getting Heard and Clark -B. Leonard at QB -A. WR-Collins,Harrison and Mitchell-- A. K-Jeter--A. de-Oben Jr.-B+. By the way, getting Harrison as kickoff specialist is an added bonus.

Just going to say it now our defense will be better in 24. If the offense does what it should we are a national championship contender.

I'm hoping someone they recruited starts

I liked what I saw from Schuler quite a bit from the bowl game. Thinking with a good off season he could be ready next year for the full time gig. Good get tho either way for depth.

According to PFF, he was Northwestern's 2nd-highest graded player last year. And they had a pretty good defense, which led them to an 8-5 season. So I'd think he has a pretty good chance of starting. But we'll see.

It's all if heard can learn the scheme and communication of the new position. He has a little more talent than brown and WAY better catching/tackling ability. But brown was insanely assignment correct.

He will. But he's changing positions

Or he could play nickel, like he did last year at NW. I guess that's not technically a starting position, but they play a lot.
They recruited Clark for Nickel and Heard for safety

At least that's what they told both
