OT: #5 PSU vs #17 Ole Miss (F+ ratings)

Penn State’s missing more players, and both coordinators from the season. That’s probably a factor as well.

No they aren't. Ole Miss has 14 opt-outs/transfers, PSU has 7
I think Penn State's biggest missing piece might've been Manny Diaz, though. They had some assistant running their defense instead. Diaz, like our own former Miami coach, is a very good DC.

Psu at 5 was an absolute joke regardless of this game

Just an awful ranking
They lost to great teams. Kinda like how Oregon is so high because they got to lose to a top team twice.

Penn State has no offense. The QB would struggle to see playing time at many schools. Zero real WR play at Penn St. They are difficult to watch unless you need a nap.

11-2 Oregon is ranked high due to a 36-33 loss at #2 Washington, and another 34-31 loss to Washington in the PAC12 title game.

Oregon deserves their #8 ranking, IMO.

I hope Angelli stays but PSU should inquire.

Why do pundits think James Franklin is a good coach? He thrives on beating middling Big Ten teams. Why would Drew Allar stay at Penn St. He’s regressing

Allar's 6'5 with an NFL arm. He needs to improve, though. But he's only a sophomore this year.

Makes my day.

Lane Kiffin is arguably now a top 5 head coach in all of cfb.

He's that good, IMO.
And where do you put Charlie Weis Jr as far as OCs?
LK and associates are also buying a pretty good team for 2024

Hard to say, because frankly, from scheme to schematics to calling plays, Lane Kiffin pretty much navigates the offense at Ole Miss.

You would think since Weis has been with LK for at least 6 season one way or another he should be familiar the LK system

They definitely were missing both coordinators, as well as both starting corners, which didn't help against the prolific passing attack of Ole Miss.
Got you. Relatively speaking, PSU had one of the least amount of opt-outs as compared to the other 5 dozen bowl teams

Thought Tom Allen was helping as DC before he starts in earnest next year?

Most schools had so many holes this year due to portal and draft and coaching carousel

PSU also had their LT and a DE sit out (one made 1st/2nd team all American while other was a 3rd in one of the groups).

Ole Miss had one DL sit out.

PSU had offense issues, but to say 4 starters sitting out is one of least of all the bowl teams is far from accurate.
