No. 11 seed Notre Dame (23-10) will take the court in San Diego against No. 6 seed Alabama (19-13) at 4:15 p.m. EDT about 40 hours after the Irish won in Dayton against Rutgers in double overtime of the First Four.

Alabama might be one of the most unpredictable teams in the NCAA Tournament. The Crimson Tide beat No. 1 overall seed Gonzaga, 91-82, on Dec. 4 and No. 1 seed Baylor, 87-78, on Jan. 29. But Alabama also lost to Missouri (Jan. 8) and Georgia (Jan. 25), who both fired their head coaches following the season. Alabama lost its last two regular season games to Texas A&M and No. 6 seed LSU and its only game in the SEC Tournament to Vanderbilt (18-16).

Alabama likes to score and doesn't like to play defense. The Crimson Tide rank No. 9 in Division I in scoring offense (80 ppg) and No. 318 in scoring defense (76.4).

Alabama is led by guard Jaden Shackelford (6-foot-3), who averages 16.7 points per game. Guard Jahvon Quinerly (6-1) averages 14.3 points and 4.3 assists per game. Guard Keon Ellis (6-6) averaged 12 points and 6 rebounds per game.

Alabama doesn't have anyone who shoots better than 36% from 3. Shackelford and Ellis both shoot 35.6%.

Notre Dame's projected starters: guards Prentiss Hubb, Blake Wesley, Dane Goodwin and Cormac Ryan and forward Paul Atkinson Jr.

Atkinson scored a game-high 26 points on 13-of-15 shooting including the game-winning layup with 1.4 seconds remaining in double overtime against Rutgers.

Ryan has scored 36 points in his last two games (20 vs. Virginia Tech and 16 vs. Rutgers).

Goodwin finished with 12 points after a quiet first half against Rutgers.

Wesley struggled on 4-of-17 shooting for 8 points against Rutgers.

Hubb recorded Notre Dame's worst plus/minus against Rutgers at -6 while scoring nine points with seven assists and no turnovers.
