Notre Dame men's basketball (7-16, 2-10 ACC) looks to snap its seven-game losing skid on Saturday when it takes the floor against Virginia Tech (13-9, 5-6 ACC).

The Hokies have conference wins over NC State and Boston College, two programs that came into South Bend and beat the Irish on their home floor in January.

Freshman point guard Markus Burton, who averages a team-high 16.2 points per game, is expected to carry the load offensively. Freshman guard Braeden Shrewsberry, Micah's son, has started to come into his own since the calendar flipped to 2024. He now is ND's second-leading scorer at 9.3 points per contest, slightly ahead of redshirt sophomore guard J.R. Konieczny at nine points a game.

As a team, ND is shooting 40% from the field, 30% from the 3-point line and 72% from the the free-throw line. Notre Dame has suffered from scoring droughts, inconsistent offensive play and defensive errors on its seven-game losing streak. In that span, the Irish have only scored 60 points or more twice. Notre Dame's team average of 61.5 points per game ranks No. 346 (out of 351) in Division I this season.

ND is holding its opponents to 65.7 points per game, which is nearly nine points less than Virginia Tech's team average of 74.3 points per contest. The Hokies are led by the trio of guard Sean Pedulla, guard Hunter Cattoor and center Lynn Kidd, all of whom average 13 or more points a game. Cattoor shoots 43% from the 3-point line.

Virginia Tech has won three of its last five but is just 1-5 on the road this season under head coach Mike Young.
