Four-star center James Brown, the No. 29 prospect in the 2024 class, committed to North Carolina on Monday. Brown, a junior at Chicago St. Rita, has been a high priority target for the Irish. He visited Notre Dame multiple times in the fall including an official visit in October.

Where does Notre Dame turn next for interior help in the 2024 class? The Irish have been in heavy pursuit of four-star power forward Royce Parham, the No. 63 prospect in the 2024 class. The Pittsburgh (Pa.) North Hills product received a Notre Dame offer in September and made an official visit in November. ND associate head coach Anthony Solomon attended one of Parham's games in December.
Among the other contenders for the 6-foot-8 Parham are Penn State, Pittsburgh, Wisconsin and Xavier.
Brown, Parham and Illinois commit Morez Johnson are the only three recruits classified by Rivals as a center or power forward with a Notre Dame offer in the 2024 class.
Notre Dame did not sign an interior player in a three-guard 2023 class.
