Here are tonight's Lucky Charms...

*** Notre Dame hosted Mt. Pleasant (S.C.) Oceanside Collegiate Academy class of 2023 offensive tackle Monroe Freeling for an unofficial visit today. He did all of the good stuff -- tour the facilities, get a presentation from the staff, spend all day with Jeff Quinn, have a photoshoot in the Notre Dame jersey, etc. This was Freeling's first visit since recruiting opened back up on June 1, and by all accounts, he loved it. He'll head to a few other schools down South this month, but Notre Dame set the tone for him. On the Notre Dame side of things, a source was really pleased with how Freeling enjoyed his time in South Bend, and I'm told Freeling is a massive individual. Rivals lists him at 6-7, 274.

*** Notre Dame hosted top class of 2023 defensive line targets Brenan Vernon and Kennedy McDowell over the weekend. The newes big-time recruit coming in for Mike Elston and Co.? How about Allen (Texas) High class of 2023 end David Hicks Jr., who Rivals ranks as the nation's No. 36 recruit. He will be on campus June 17. Notre Dame offered the four-star recruit on April 8.

*** Notre Dame didn't have official visitors this past weekend with the main purpose being that the staff wanted to wait until the players were back on campus to hang out with the prospects. Other schools across the country did have official visits and hosted some of Notre Dame's top targets. I've heard some scuttlebutt that Wisconsin is picking up steam on Irish OL target Billy Schrauth and that Oregon did a terrific job with key LB target Jaylen Sneed. But there's some context that everyone needs to remember -- these kids are over the moon about taking officials.

They went from the most notable thing to do on a visit was to see the outside of a campus building to meeting with the entire staff, trying on jerseys, going through the facilities, etc. Just as some of these recruits loved their visits elsewhere, these kids will be visiting Notre Dame and love their time on South Bend.

Here's a list of Notre Dame targets that visited elsewhere this past weekend.

OL Ryan Baer: Virginia (official)
DL Anthony Lucas: Texas A&M (official)
CB Devin Moore: Alabama (unofficial)
S Xavier Nwankpa: Ohio State (official)
RB Damari Alston: LSU (unofficial)
S Jake Pope: North Carolina (official)
OL Zach Rice: Ohio State (official)
LB Niuafe Tuihalamaka: Texas (official)
LB Jaylen Sneed: Oregon (official)
OL Billy Schrauth: Wisconsin (official
OL Joe Brunner: Wisconsin (official)
OL Carson Hinzman: Wisconsin (official)
QB Arch Manning: Clemson (unofficial, 2023)
OL Aamil Wagner: Ohio State (official)
LB Sonny Styles: Michigan State, Michigan (unofficial)
S KJ Winston: Michigan State (official)
CB Jyaire Brown: Ohio State (official)
CB Nikai Martinez: UCF (official)
RB Nicholas Singleton: Wisconsin (official)

Some quick thoughts... I think the ship might be departing for Notre Dame in its hopes to flip Jyaire Brown. It looks like his OSU official went well, and he's likely locked in there, but we'll see.... It will be interesting to see if Nwankpa and Wagner shut things down and pick OSU. They're rumored to be OSU leans, but Irish sources feel optimistic with Nwankpa. Not as much with Wagner.... The Wisconsin kids had a good time Wisconsin, as you can imagine. I'm strongly considering a FutureCast pick for Hinzman to Notre Dame though, and I have been for a long time.

*** Chicago St. Rita class of 2022 athlete Kaleb Brown committed to Ohio State following his visit over the weekend. Notre Dame hadn't really been all involved in this recruitment for several months. The Irish would've loved to have Brown's talents in this class, but Notre Dame isn't like other schools when it comes to academic requirements.
