The Athletic put up an interesting article today, where they caught up with 15 of the top 2023 recruits and asked them some questions about their NIL experience. it's a pay article, but I think it'll be ok to share a couple of bits of summary data:
- Four students had no NIL money offers. Five had more than $1 million. Three had smaller amounts. Three declined to answer.
- Eleven students said that NIL was the third most important factor in their decision. Three said second. One said NIL played no role. Nine put player development first or second. Seven did same with relationships. Two mentioned education. One mentioned player time, and one other mentioned culture.
