Yes it would, but it may never happen.
No, a bleacher report article will not force ND to join a conference.
If college football moves to four 16 team super conferences we sure as hell will be joining a conference. Independence does not require pig headed stupidity. You morons just don't get it. ND football will never join a conf.

This one is definitely voting for Hillary.Dreaming of super conf's is stupid. No one wants that other than morons.

I'm not in favor of it at all either. I'm just saying, IF it did happen, we would definitely be in one of those conferences. Being independent just won't work in that tight of a structure. Especially so if the playoff ends up just being the four winners.Dreaming of super conf's is stupid. No one wants that other than morons.

Yeah, but if we were to end up with four 16 team conferences, we might as well watch the NFL.
Correct. Conferences should go back to 10 teams. Play a 9 game conference schedule and eliminate the CCG, which is nothing more than a money grab anyway.
Then expand the playoffs to an 8 team format. What bothers me is how in the heck can the FCS put together a playoff system but the FBS can't. Nonsense.
ND should remain an independent as long as it makes sense to do so.
Fight On! We will see you good folks on Saturday. Hope it's a good game.

It's more likely that the playoff goes to 8 teams, rather than the formation of 4 16-team conferences.
I hope to hell you are right. If you assume that everyone of the eight teams was going to play in a bowl game anyway, the net result will be two teams that play one extra game, and two that play two extra games. Right now we already have two teams playing one extra game, so the "additional game" impact will only be felt by the two teams in the final, who will be playing the extra game. IMHO, that's a worthy tradeoff for how much better an 8 team playoff would be for college football in general; with every P5 champion being in the playoff and three at-large bids to pretty much guarantee that a worthy team will be included. It's more likely that the playoff goes to 8 teams, rather than the formation of 4 16-team conferences.
The schools are going to be careful in doing anything that treats their student athletes more like NFL players. Change IMO will come much more slowly because cutting back the season by one game would mean the loss of $300 (?) million. Schools that make a lot of money per home game (ND, Ohio State, Alabama) don't want to trade that money for the same share of playoff money that Indiana would receive.
I don't think I said anything about cutting back the regular season.
The schools are gun shy about adding more games.
They haven't seemed that way in the past.
I don't think the idea of a 16 team playoff is anything new.
I don't think I've mentioned a 16-team playoff.
Not sure what your point is.
"School presidents are reluctant to lengthen the season".
