He is playing really well! Seems like a great leader.
If he can continue to mature in the pocket and the defense continues to play lights out we're gonna be a tough out.He is playing really well! Seems like a great leader.
If our D was fully healthy, then I think we'd have a shot at this thing. Losing Morrison, Botelho, and Traore is a lot to overcome.Other than Georgia, Texas, and Oregon I think we can compete with anyone. And our defense could slow those teams down. Ohio State and Penn State have looked vulnerable. LSU looks good. Texas is only up 7 on Vandy.
Yeah I think we could have had a real shot.If our D was fully healthy, then I think we'd have a shot at this thing. Losing Morrison, Botelho, and Traore is a lot to overcome.
Jagusah too. Ultimately, we might be a man short on the OL.
I agree. If a QB emerges, then I'm optimistic that we can be in the hunt next season.Yeah I think we could have had a real shot.
I think we will come up short because of Jagusah, Morrison and one of Traore/Botelho. If we had those 3 I think we had a real chance this year
Ouch!Especially compared to you!
Stop playing up this schedule like it's something it's not. USC's the only test they have left, and even that's questionable to call it a test because their defense is swiss cheese.Little by little the offense is slowing improving. November is where you make your money. Even though ND will be favored , each game will be a challenge. No game is an automatic win.
Agree, he's played well in recent weeks, but let's not kid ourselves this schedule is turning out to be weaker than the 2021 schedule.HE played his best game today
still not what you need as regards a QB to win a NC
Army's defense was ranked 11th in the country heading into today.Stop playing up this schedule like it's something it's not. USC's the only test they have left, and even that's questionable to call it a test because their defense is swiss cheese.
The schedule is not what it was thought to be. No disagreement from me. But this is also not a juggernaut ND team. They need to play fundamentally sound football to keep winning. Lots of starters are out as well. The margin for error for ND is small. I’m not sure what s up with FSU. But last time i checked, they still recruit pretty well. They have talent. We will see how ND handles themStop playing up this schedule like it's something it's not. Navy sucked on offense and special teams so I’m a little concerned about Army. Of course ya never know with Virginia and FSU. USC is a solid team too.Solid comments on this thread. I appreciate and will take any win. But this performance vs Navy doesn't make RL a just in time leader and effective thrower...given previous performances when the schedule isn't too challenging.
I am very confident now ND runs the table. Sure, the Irish are capable of a letdown, like the one vs NIU. But I don't see this happening again this season.
Always next year! Seems to be a trend for the last 30 yrsI agree. If a QB emerges, then I'm optimistic that we can be in the hunt next season.
Yeah, I don't think Army's going to be any better. USC always was and still is the big one.Solid comments on this thread. I appreciate and will take any win. No doubt, as mentioned, losing studs atLittle by little the offense is slowly improving. November is where you make your money. Even though ND will be favored , each game will be a challenge. No game is an automatic win.
Navy had tons of unforced errors today. Had they played a clean game, I think we would have been nervous at the start of the fourth quarter. Assuming Army doesn't shoot themselves in the foot like Navy did, I anticipate a much closer game.Yeah, I don't think Army's going to be any better. USC always was and still is the big one.
I guess that's true. But still, we blew Navy off the field. So I can't really sympathize too much. But that certainly was a shit ton of unforced turnovers. Navy must be pissed at themselves. They had like, two for the whole year before today. What the hell happened?Navy had tons of unforced errors today. No way would we be nervous at the 4th. We are the much better teamNavy had tons of unforced errors today. Bye week coming at a good time.RL said after the game he still isn't 100% confident in the offense yet but some things are becoming 2nd nature
He and the offense have another level they could still get to
That ranking is skewed.. Look at their schedule and who they've played. Let's be realistic here, ND should beat Army the way they did Navy. We need to seriously stop playing up this schedule as something it's not. Like with Navy, the talent disparity between ND and and Army is enormous.Army's defense was ranked 11th in the country heading into today.
Look at who they have playedArmy's defense was ranked 11th in the country heading into today.
Yeah, but with a #11 ranking, their defense was ranked a lot higher than Navy's was. Navy's was 92nd in yardage, but 31st in scoring. And their schedules were similar. So their defense should be tougher than Navy's.That ranking is skewed.. Look at their schedule and who they've played. Let's be realistic here, ND should beat Army the way they did Navy. Really, what leadership and mojo does he have? I see nothing of the sort. He seems like a generally good natured, bland rich kid, who likes to blend in, and who does his thing well enough, in this case that means playing QB at ND, and distinctively not being a charismatic or bold type person at all. He couldn't be any more of an ideally non-threatening, milktoast ND type person.I will say again what I said before. RL missing spring practice with the ankle injury and then being limited in summer practice was a big thing. He's coming over to a new team, with a new system and coaches, and new WRs. Those spring and summer practices were important, but he didn't get them. He is just now starting to round into form. He still isn't a great passer, and I am not sure he ever will be, but he shows improvement every week, and his elite running skills make him a really tough guy to defend. He is a big kid and is able to pick up yards that other running QBs wouldn't. And his leadership skills and game "mojo" are plainly evident. Patience is often in short supply with Irish football fans, but just keep the faith, fellas. Our defense will keep us in the game every week, and while the offense is still a work in progress, the needle is moving in the right direction.
Don't forget that O$U was a botched last play away from beating Oregon on the road. Georgia lost to Bama who seems not as good as usual and Texas was manhandled in the trenches by Georgia. What am I saying? ND may be able to compete with anyone this year... or they could lost at home to Northern Illinois.Other than Georgia, Texas, and Oregon I think we can compete with anyone. And our defense could slow those teams down. Ohio State and Penn State have looked vulnerable. LSU looks good. Texas is only up 7 on Vandy.
The narrative by some posters matters. Posting that Army’s defense is ranked #11 in the country isn’t worth a direct response. That ranking is skewed.. Look at their schedule and who they've played.
