Got this list from the Wild West. Crazy the things you can bet on. Like any of these prop bets, the fact that you cannot bet AGAINST any one of these coaches being the next USC head coach means the odds are all BS.

"Kyle Whittingham, Utah - 3.5/1
Chip Kelly, Philadelphia Eagles - 6/1
Bryan Harsin, Boise State - 6/1
Tom Herman, Houston - 7/1
Justin Fuente, Memphis - 7/1
Clay Helton, USC interim coach - 8/1
Jack Del Rio, Oakland Raiders - 8/1
Chris Petersen, Washington - 9/1
Brian Kelly, Notre Dame - 9/1
Kevin Sumlin, Texas A&M - 11/1
Gary Patterson, TCU - 11/1
Mark Dantonio, Michigan State - 15/1"

Dantonio, if healthy, is more in the mold of SC football. He might bring back 'student body right' type football.
There are a lot of 'fancy Nancy' type coaches on that list.

I would not be surprised by a surprise hire. A top coach who thinks he just needs to refresh or rejuvenate his career with a new challenge. A guy like Stoops ? The guy at Northwestern might feel he has taken that team as far as he can talent/performance wise, so he may want to have an unlimited talent and authority.

USC is the one certain spot that can compete with the SEC 'professional' approach; and beat them at it!

The agents of these coaches are throwing their clients name out there to get leverage for a nice raise and an extension on their contract. Why would Kyle want to leave a place where he is loved and secure? Pay raise? Maybe, but there's high drama and pressure at USC. Is it worth the money? Pro coaches might have a problem with recruiting. The NFL life actually gives you time off. The college career puts you on call, 24/7. Again, is it worth it? I really don't expect Harbaugh to stick around the college game for more than 5 years before he goes NFL again. Remember, Sark was not the first, second, third, or fourth choice at USC. And, how many candidates would want to work for an AD who fired a HC at an airport, then makes a first class mess of this Sark ordeal?

Sumlin is not an offensive fit for SC. Kiffer started them down the wrong path and now they are looking to get back to SC football. SC gets the physical talent to just over-power opponents and does not need the gimmicky scheme for success. With the right coaching approach, they will rebound in short order. It is far easier to rebound based upon fundamental well executed physical football than installing a gimmick offense that has specialized personel needs. Harbaugh's effort is a good example.

(I really doubt that BK would be the type of coach to get serious consideration)

Maybe. I think Sumlin uses the spread because that is what the Texas high schools he recruits favor. Seems like USC would be thrilled if Chip Kelly told the Eagles so long and came to LA. And he seems to be more of an extreme spread guy than Sumlin.

SC needs to go back to a Pro Set style of offense. We need to get back to playing power football. Enough Spread/Read Option. Play physically football with a smart capable QB that can move in the pocket and we will be fine.

Hard to say. He's LDS and played for BYU. Though he was born in California, it appears that he has spent most of his adult life in Utah and Idaho.

Talking about the school more then the state. The school is not an end destination type program. It would be really surprising in he was cool just staying at Utah and fighting the good fight.
