USC Punter Helmet Throw

Took off his helmet and slammed it while still on the field of play. Isn’t it a penalty to take off your helmet on the field, or is that just an NFL rule?

It was kind of ridiculous because it was still a good punt.

It is a penalty, a 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct.

Interesting because the back judge saw Mills punch Pregnon (sp?) and didn’t throw a flag, he just separated them. I’m wondering if he saw Pregnon twisting Mills leg and just decide to separate instead of throwing offsetting personal fouls but would’ve had to eject Mills.
