USC and UCLA to the Big Ten.

Dante Moore will officially never make a playoff. Oregon will have no credibility as they play nobody in a MAC conference.

Been in the works for a while. The other option considered was gong independent. Not a done deal but close, very close. Quick poll on 247 should a slim majority in favor, which I think will increase. Apparently huge amounts of money involved for all BIG teams if it goes through.

This is so odd. Nothing says - "The student athlete is our priority" than making kids fly from California to Maryland for a midweek softball game. Even for the football teams - coming home from a Saturday game and flying across country makes no sense. Odd with the sports also - the water polo and some other teams going to stay in the PAC 12? I got a lot of questions.

Obviously more money.

But the tradition with the Pac, the dominance in that conference and the west coast. Now to go to the Big is just very odd

The travel might take its toll and playing in the northeast in late october through December is not going to be fun.

You just jumped into a much better conference where you are the outsider

LR better be even better than people thinks

Well, let's see. Assume eight conference games, including every year matches with UCLA. So 3-4 travel games a year. All out of conference games will probably be made to avoid travel. In the pack game with the Wash or Ore teams require flying 800-900 miles. sc to Nebraska is around 1500 miles, Iowa 1700 miles. Certainly, a difference, but hardly devastating. An interesting question is whether the ND game will be ditched to keep total travel done. I doubt it and hope not.

Everyone has a lot of questions. My guess is that minor sport will not be included, but no one knows.

See how much the Big Ten wants to protect USC. Do they give them the PSU away game in Prime Time in late late October/November? USC might want to find some OL instead of ten WRs in that event.

“USC is on the same tier as ND & Bama as the greatest of all time” Q: “What does UCLA bring to the table?” A: “Well a lot of what UCLA brings is their connection to SC”

This move is not a surprise to Lincoln.
Hes doing a horrible job of building his team to compete in the Big 10 then

Between his 22, 23 and 24 recruits he has got only 2 OL commits. And the one is ranked in the 700s and the other is a juco

That is awful team building if he knew

Maybe. He has two years It certainly is true we missed on or biggest want, in Conerly and looks like we will miss on Francis M. But hard to say a guy who brought SC from being 126th to 6th did a bad job. we need SD-line this year and will need O-line next year, so we have some work to do.

However, the move to the BIG will be a boon for recruiting and Linclon is a master at the portal. I think I will wait until the end of the year to decide how he is doing.

This makes the BIG a conference with a national footprint. Teams literally from coast to coast.

LOS ANGELES – The University of Southern California will take the historic step of joining the Big Ten Conference in 2024, a move that will position USC and its student-athletes for long-term success in both athletics and academics.
"Over the past three years, we have worked hard to ground our university decisions in what is best for our students," said USC President Carol L. Folt. "With the Big Ten, we are joining a storied conference that shares our commitment to academic excellence and athletic competitiveness, and we are positioning USC and our student-athletes for long-term success and stability amidst the rapidly evolving sports media and collegiate athletics landscapes. We are delighted to begin this new chapter in 2024."

The Big Ten Conference has voted to accept both USC and crosstown rival UCLA as full members of the conference effective August 2, 2024, enabling both schools to remain in the Pac-12 Conference for
the duration of the Pac-12's existing media rights agreements.

"Ultimately, the Big Ten is the best home for USC and Trojan athletics as we move into the new world of collegiate sports," Athletic Director Mike Bohn said. "We are excited that our values align with the league's member institutions. We also will benefit from the stability and strength of the conference; the athletic caliber of Big Ten institutions; the increased visibility, exposure, and resources the conference will bring our student-athletes and programs; and the ability to expand engagement with our passionate alumni nationwide."

USC also shared that, beginning this upcoming academic year, all student-athletes, whether on scholarship or not, will have the opportunity to receive up to $5,980 annually in direct financial support in the form of academic achievement awards, consistent with the Supreme Court's recent Alston ruling. The specific details and criteria for the Alston awards will be disclosed prior to the start of the upcoming fall semester.

USC has more than 550 student-athletes who compete in 21 sports, and they are supported by more than 250 coaches and staff. Trojan teams have won 134 national championships, and men and women have taken home 483 individual NCAA titles. The USC football program, which competes in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, has won 11 national championships, competed in 34 Rose Bowls (with 25 wins), and produced 519 NFL draft picks. USC athletes also have won 326 Summer Olympics medals, with 153 of them being gold. In 2021, USC posted its highest-ever NCAA Graduation Success Rate (92 percent).

Disagree. This will be huge for recruiting. Lots of negative recruiting about SC due to the Pac.
Nah. You had a clear path to the NC ever single year in the Pac. You dont in the Big.

You could have owned the west coast. Now you may be a good Big team but not The Team.

Esp with your OL recruiting. Might be a struggle

They won't just be taking one team from the BIG with the new expansion format being discussed. Plus, there is a huge difference in TV money for new facilities coaches pay etc. That with the new Stay Doubt NIL company SC just formed we will be hard to out recruit. I have no idea what our o-line will look like two years from now, but if it is bad, it will be a struggle.

The NCAA has been asleep at the wheel for 2 years while lawyers, corporate sponsors, individual members and players haphazardly re-organize the sport … incompetent leadership standing by watching 1/3 of the members leave the other 2/3 behind.

They have been asleep a lot long then 2 years. LOL.

ND can only join the ACC until end of agreement. Rumors swirling that sec is pushing ND to join the ACC and will then enter exclusive scheduling agreement with sec and acc. That brings pay parity to the ACC.

Lets be clear these this is a case of fox vs ESPN for content not schools jockeying.

ND is the crown jewel. The BIG 10 would pay that buyout clause for ND to leave the ACC and join the BIG 10

There is alot of speculation about the SEC making a play for Clemson, Florida State and Miami.

Nine Conference games.

Oh yes it was!!
No, it wasn't at all. In our local 247 site published that discussion were taking place three months ago. There have also been public discussions about the possibility of going independent. LR was in on everything and it really silly to suggest he wasn't.
