Urban Meyer Dallas Cowboys Talk

Urban was on The Herd awhile back and mentioned if the Dallas Cowboys called, you have to listen. Because for better or worse the Dallas Cowboys are the NY Yankees of the NFL.

Dak is an Urban Meyer style of QB, and was coached by his former OC Dan Mullen at MSU. Of course Zeke Elliott played for Urban at OSU.

IMO Urban has nothing left to accomplish at the College level. Other than winning a Natty at ND. Which would be like winning a WS with the Chicago Cubs. But ND and Meyer are never going to line up.

Winning a Super Bowl would put him in the pantheon of coaches. And unlike Barry Switzer who took the back door to a 3rd Super Bowl for Dallas. Urban would be resurrecting a Dallas franchise that has not seen an NFC Championship game in 25 years, let alone a Super Bowl.

He wins a ring in Dallas, he would move past Jimmy Johnson and into 2nd place behind Tom Landry in Cowboy history. Because no matter how much Jimmy won in Dallas, people resented him for replacing a fired Tom Landry, and then he left in a controversial way as well.

Dallas has the QB, Dallas has the RB, Dallas has a talented roster in a weak division. Seems like the low hanging fruit the Meyer loves to pick and eat.

I think ND fans lucked out here. Cowboys would be foolish not to take Meyer and I’m sure he’d take it. It’s a great gig. USC was an attractive job, but Cowboys has to feel bigger to Urban. He’d always wonder about the NFL if he didn’t at least give it a shot. He’s accomplished enough at the college level. I never wanted an Urban led USC team. I think they’d turn into Ohio State. I think that’s why they kept Helton. The “feels” must’ve felt soft with Urban because he’s headed to Dallas.

Right now Saban is a great College coach. Carroll by winning a SB title in Seattle is a good all around coach. Urban I think would do well in Dallas. But all those built in advantages he had in CFB are gone.

Urban will get a reality check if he takes the cowboy job. He will find out just like Saban did back in the 2000's. you can't control things like they can in college. you can get all of the criminal elements you want on a nfl roster. BUT that league is won with the mind along with brawn. you are playing against the BEST PLAYERS in the world. they will be playing teams each week that they can lose too. Saban quit, because his ego couldn't handle being beat down while with the dolphins.

Urban will find out the same thing if he takes the cowboy job, and JJ sticking his nose in every thing. good luck with that. although the nfl is different now then when Saban last coached there. STILL those HC's can't control things like they did back in college. different animal.

What other team's owner handles all the post-game press conferences? None, but because of Jerra's huge ego he feels the need to do so.

Urban wouldn't last more than one season putting up with that clown show.
