My noticing from first half

Arnold looking very good. He’s probably best QB in the class. Rashada and Avery Johnson look like shit. Dylan Edwards is a showboating little dweeb that tries to jump in and take up stage on everyone else’s touchdown celebrations. I hear James had two big catches early b4 I turned it on but hasn’t played much since. P Bowen has been non existent besides getting Arnold water on the bench. Branch is going to be a menace at USC. Richard Young doesn’t look good to me. The Texas running back is going to be fantastic. Love not getting many reps.

game is on ESPN if anyone wants to check it out

Huh… he’s been really really good… you sure you’re not confusing him with Avery? Avery has been awful

Arnold looks ready to start as a frosh
Not watching. Just see people saying how overrated and inaccurate Arnold looks

Arnold looked like what I thought we were going to get with Buchner before he changed his throwing motion

Not ready to say someone is going to be a stud qb that has 8 picks when playing significant minutes in 5 games or is averaging a pick every 15 pass attempts
I'll say it. You don't have to

I get bothered more by the passes three yards off target...

Buchner is an inaccurate passer.
He'll beat the second tier teams but when we need that precise throw in stride in a huge game...

There is the problem

It looks like our highlight players might be in the AA game. I heard D Bowen looks terrific in practice.

I actually agree and disagree… I think it’s part mechanics and part decision making

People talk about the tip pick being unlucky, it was picked even if it wasn’t tipped, Evans wasn’t close to being open.

He has 4 pick 6s in 118 passes…. I bet nd had maybe 4 pick 6s last 10 years combined over 4 thousand passes

Also, with his athleticism he never buys time like the top college qbs do… you don’t have to run a ton but the top qbs buy time for wrs to get open downfield

Golson- you’ll love this… love got few carries, no clue why but you could see he has it, and finishes runs properly.. I really thought special teams only next year but it price isn’t 100% I could see third string back no doubt

The way he finished runs I hadn’t really seen on film, he has me excited.

He has to be inline for kickoff returner too

Braylon James and Love will play as freshman. Both are underrated and dominant amongst the best incoming freshman in the country.

Agree. Love looked far better, bigger, and more explosive than Dick Young. It wasn’t even close. ND got a 5 star back with a 4 star ranking. They should swap rankings, honestly. In a game where nobody was carrying more than a yard or two, Love was pushing the DL while Young got demolished over and over.

Ita about time. You were late on Price and now Love

When’s the last time a ND receiver commit had 4 catches in a AA bowl? He was barely on the field but ran perfect routes and caught every ball his way.

Yeah James looked good too

Price yes but he transformed himself jr to sr year… we’ll see if he can return to form some spoke of

I’ve always been high on love, just disappointed in losing out on Edwards. You won’t find a post where I spoke poorly of love, I just felt like Edward and bowen are more ready to be our return specialists so felt they would be more immediate impact… ready for it to be love

Edwards should win the award for most annoying player at the game. Jumping in front of players that scored touchdowns and waving weird hand signs around. He will be a good fit with Deion.

The throwing issues....

You don't know who I am but I can tell you I've a lot of experience playing and coaching...perhaps you do as well.

Decision making can be fixed. That will have to be done two ways. First of all we HAVE to throw the ball downfield. Chunk plays. Our passing game is way too easy to defend.
Teams will just sit on the 3-5 yard curl and sit route. I would defend our offense exactly like that. Why not.?! We don't make anyone pay by going over the top. They've no reason to not cheat up on the middle routes!!!!
Marshall sold out on that and look what happened.
Stanford...same...

Then look at UNC..
Why on earth they played our receivers 10 plus yards off is beyond me. Amazing some coach got paid for that decision.

Longer passes will back off the defense. Coaches can help him with this by calling longer plays.

The second thing is he himself isn't seeing beyond his target. In other words he locks in on a receiver and that's where it's going.
He's only looking off as a formality. He's not really checking down or going through progressions. You see it in his body language. He looks, then looks the other way and throws. He was always throwing there to begin with.
This nonsense he has to fix. Only he can do it.

That all said his accuracy isn't fixable by mechanics. He can get polished but he won't go from being inaccurate to accurate from mechanics.
Touch, like velocity, can be tweaked or polished but you either have a gun or not. You can't make someone throw 70 yards who is barely hitting 50 yards by mechanics. Possibly can eek out a few yards velocity with mechanics but that's it.
Accuracy.. again you either have it or not. It can be polished but you don't go from inaccurate throwing to threading the needle with mechanics.

If it were that simple everyone would be playing QB and be really good at it.
Eveyone would be pitching for a MLB team if mechanics were such a difference maker.

They can polish and tweak but that's it.

Why are you using this thread to dis an Irish QB who had not played since September and led team to victory? He was so bad he was the game MVP.

Hey...
if it bothers you then talk to those who started the subject on Buchner's deficiencies in this very thread.
