Tyler Buchner To Alabama.

Last year, Hartman had 337 yds and 6 TDs against Clemson. That's the same Clemson team our offense scored 21 points on. So he's proven himself against good teams before. He'll be our best QB since Brady Quinn IMO.
Preach.

This is the world of college football today. Buchner wants to play. He had a chance to beat out Hartman. He didn’t. That’s the way it goes. Look at it this way. Jalen Hurts started for 2 years. Then , Tua beat him out. Hurts transfers to OU and played great. Tua played great for Bama. It all worked out. So I hope Buchner succeeds as well as Hartman. This sort of thing will happen again and again. The transfer portal or free agency as I like to call it , and the NIL has changed the way college football operates. Recruiting rankings still matter but not as mucus’s they use to.

If you think Rees will be the " decision maker " there on who plays after being there less than a year you're mistaken.
No but the kid will have the benefit of knowing what Rees is looking for. It will give him an edge.

And he threw 2 pics vs liberty, 3 pics in a loss to Louisville, and 3 pics in a loss to NCState. I can cherry pick games too

I agree, it’s just a spring game. No reason to start placing Heisman bets.

But I simply don’t believe Buchner’s struggles were due to a lack of surrounding talent. Him refusing to go through his progressions and throwing into the hands of the defense doesn’t have anything to do with surrounding talent.

I will be cheering for him at Bama, but any real success we see there will be newfound success. The truth is, at ND he lost to Marshall and his “best game” he still threw 3 picks.

Most top rated QBs out of high school end up being overrated. Go look at the class from 4 years ago, odds are the majority of the top 20 QBs aren’t too successful, and a few Crown Jewels. That’s just recruiting. A handful of ND fans refuse to believe Tyler may be among that majority.
Im not saying Buchner is great. I'm saying the kid really hasn't seen live action in 4+ years. That's a lot to overcome especially at the most important position on the field. He has a lot of work to do, but at Alabama he knows the offense, he knows what Rees wants from his QB, and he's going to be surrounded by much better talent. It may end up being a good move for him. I still believe he will be QB1 at the start of the season.

No doubt in my mind Buchner will start at least this coming season.
Rees is the OC, was Buchner's QB coach and OC for 2 years. Buchner already knows the playbook, the other QB's are having to learn it.

I tend to agree with your assessment. The talent at Alabama is on another level compared to what Buchner had at ND. Buchner will excel if he stays healthy.
Rees isn't running his offense. He is running Saban's offense. He might be able to add some wrinkles.

270-428. 63.1%. 3701 yards 38 TD’s. 12 Int. for Hartman in 2022.

This doesn't make any sense. He leaves ND because he's second string one play away from starting. He goes to Alabama with three other 4 star QBs to compete against ,he missed spring practice so he is behind the competion.
Well, this will be an interesting way to see the overall impact of being at ND vs being at Alabama.

The ND side is worried they're both going to go down there and look really good and show how far behind ND truly is, the Alabama side is worried they're getting ND talent that isn't good enough to meet the Alabama expectations.

If you're truly an ND fan, you should hope they both do great down there. Things like that need to happen.

And yes, he'll obviously be the starter.
No. Everybody who thinks if TB goes there and succeeds because of the “Bama” effect is a cop out for them calling him garbage and waving goodbye. what the other sees is a very high upside QB that was never developed (mostly due to injury) and highly competitive, has the IT factor and like Kyle Hamilton said, “has the talent to win the Heisman”. Don’t chalk up his success in Tuscaloosa to his surrounding cast, y’all bailed after 3 starts.

Freeman is putting his hand print all over this team! As he should! To include ALL transfers. I believe he cares for everyone, but at the same time all who are leaving , play time was dwindling because others are emerging! RB'S are crazy with the 4 we have! WR's too! As long as SH stays healthy this will be a monster year!!! Truly best wishes to all that are leaving!

It's going to be interesting to see if he wins the starting job. He's either going prove the critics on this board wrong or right.

I can't believe Rees is willing to fall on the sword for Buchner. If Buchner starts and the wheels come off on offense, Rees will be the target of the wrath the fans and media in Tuscaloosa will bring down on him.

What exactly will he prove the critics wrong or right about?
The critical commentary about him wasn't done by osmosis.
During his time here he displayed a weak, innacurate arm whilst locking on a receiver at the snap.

As a side note he's also injury prone.

Do you see something in the above that isn't an accurate report on his performance during his tenure here?

If he suddenly gets a strong arm at Alabama (not possible)
And or becomes an accurate passer (won't happen...he may get polished but he's never threading the needle)
And or, or
Stops locking on receiver option #1 and stays locked on him the entire play.
(This might get "a little" better)

Who cares!!!

Even if all the above happened (it won't)

He couldn't do the above here and that's all that matters.
It DOESN'T matter the reason why.
Simply just matters he couldn't do it here.
If you want to follow Buchner to Bama as a fan alright but I only care about the beloved and playing who can help us win. It's that simple

The major caveat you forgot to add: vs ACC competition. That conference has been by far the least competitive P5 conference in the sport for much of the last decade or so. Also, despite Wake Forest being a mediocre program, they always had good WRs during Hartman's time there.

Hartman was evaluated as a solid 4 star transfer in the 247 transfer ratings yet ND fans are blowing their wad acting like ND got the next Russell Wilson or Cam Newton or something.

I think ND fans will finally get to see what happens when you take a top 100 overall prospect that ND fans think is 'failed' (Buchner) and surround him with high 4 star & above talent (like Alabama has)

It'll be like night and day just how much better/explosive he looks (granted he wins the job)
For someone that is so outspoken you know so little. 😂
It doesn't sound like the author knows either.

You are an idiot. The entire reason he brought Rees in was because he liked his offense, you dummy.
You didn't get any smarter over the winter. It is Saban's offense with a few wrinkles. Same with Billy O'brien and Brian Daboll. Read a book and expand that peanut brain.

You are fool. You have zero football knowledge. lol it's hilarious watching you make a fool of yourself.
"Tyler Buchner:
The pros and cons: Buchner and Alabama offensive coordinator Tommy Rees spent two years together at Notre Dame, so he should be a quick study on the system Rees is installing at Alabama."
