That was a fun HR Derby this year. Alonso was just incredible. I never thought I would see anyone match the performance that Josh Hamilton put on in the HR Derby back in 2008 at Yankee Stadium, but Alonso was just mashing the ball. His last 6 swings to overtake Mancini in the finals were all bombs. He was in the zone. And he looked like he was having a great time. I'm not a Mets fan, but I became a big Pete Alonso fan.
I hate to see it when the game's big stars bow out of participating in the Derby. Hopefully Alonso will come back next year and try to defend his crown.
