The upcoming transfer portal cycle will be an important one for Notre Dame, but it will also be a difficult one to navigate as the Irish are preparing for the College Football Playoff.
The portal officially opens for entries on Monday and runs through Dec. 28. Additionally, players participating in postseason bowls and playoff games will have an additional five-day window to enter the portal upon the conclusion of their season.
There may be some entries from Notre Dame prior to the playoff game, but I know Notre Dame is really trying to stay focused on the playoff. And that will extend to Notre Dame's activity pursuing incoming transfers.
Will Notre Dame be active in pursuing players? Yes. But Notre Dame's going to try to do that covertly. This staff has generally preferred to operate that way in the transfer portal, but I think that's going to be elevated as long as Notre Dame's season is still alive. It's viewed as important to operate that way to make sure everyone on Notre Dame's current team isn't focused on that and remains focused on finishing out this season.
That's going to make reporting on transfer portal pursuits much more difficult until the season ends. But we'll share what we can share as it moves along.
I thought we could use this thread for any of us to share names of interesting players entering the transfer portal. @Eric Hansen and I will share players we think are interesting here. You can do the same. They can be players that you think Notre Dame should pursue or just newsworthy names you think would be interesting to discuss.
I don't mind you sharing free reports from other networks, but let's stay away from sharing stuff from others in the Notre Dame market. If you're so inclined, try to see if there's a Rivals report on it.
