The Rich Get Richer: When Will Notre Dame Land a Gamebreaking Top 5 Overall Recruit? (#1 overall composite QB Jared Curtis to Georgia)

Just a few days ago, ChaseHasNoBalls was telling us how great Oregon is with stockpiling talent.

Last I checked Notre Dame beat the Georgia team that's loaded with 5 star talent at every position in a playoff game.
They won 2 in a row just a few years ago, and we beat georgia after they lost their starting QB a week before we played them.

ND was good enough to beat Georgia with Beck, i have no doubt, but if you don't think top talent leads to championships, you're fooling yourself.

They lost their QB about 3 weeks before we played them. We also had many more players affected by injury than they do. No excuse there

Yes we lost 2 very good, very close game against Georgia. Both winnable

Notre Dame is like 1-20 in the last 21 games they played vs more talented teams - so I think you have a fairly solid point

For the record, we have 2 of those players in actual football. Not in recruiting rankings

Jer Love and Leonard Moore are both top 5 players in their classes in real football

CORRECTION:

Lost their starter in the SEC Championship game (3 weeks before we played them, not one)

A week before? Try about 3-4 weeks.

yes i meant last game not last week.

We didn't play georgia any of the years they won the title.

Who said we did? You were the one who brought it up.

In 17, they lost in overtime to Nick Saban Bama in the NC. We could have won that game for sure. Some say we definitely should have. 50/50 game

In 19, they went 12 and 2 and won the Sugar. We had the ball in Athens with 2 mins eft to go and win. 50/50 game

In 24, we won by 13 in the Playoff

We have competed really well with Georgia

Are you literally going to cry every single time someone in the top 100 doesn’t pick ND? Get a grip dude
What you are asking is for someone whose primary gratification and pleasure is driven by doubt, sorrow and misery. It's all regulated by the hypothalamus. So I'm not sure there's anything that can be done about it.

How many more years are we going to be in the same debate despite Notre Dame being woefully outplayed by the best teams in the country?

You swore OSU was not more talented than Notre Dame they had six or seven players drafted in the first and second round to Notre Dames one. This is just the latest version of you arguing for NDs talent against all the data that says otherwise, and even with the benefit of hindsight year after year, you keep getting back up and making the same arguments. You are not human, you are a piece of iron lol

What is the reason ND is not competitive vs the tier 1 over the last several decades? They are getting monopolized out of the majority of the most impactful talent in the game. So when it happens again and again like groundhog day, yes, im going to keep bringing it up. Maybe someone at the operations office at ND wants to win enough to care and change it for the better at some point? Who knows .. it's only a football organization ranked in the top 5 of all of college football with a enterprise value of $2B. Maybe someone there actually wants to dip into all that cash and actually invest in a national title worthy product/roster for a change and stop getting bullied out of the most relevant talent in the game every recruiting cycle?
We got our top five QB two years ago. He's got four years of eligibility left.

We use the composite rankings around here.
1st 247 composite and then bounce it against the on3 composite for a 2nd opinion.

ND fans love to cherry pick the services that rate the recruit the highest but disregard the others who dont think the talent is ranked that high. It makes for biased and subjective evaluations instead of objective ones.

I never said we were more talented than OSU. When you are getting destroyed in debates you make things up. That's very weak of you

What team(s) are you referring to? Last year we beat Georgia and PSU and lost to the best team OSU when we were very depleted. But what team(s)?

The data and F+ says we are one of the most talented and best teams in the country

CJ Carr is the #6 QB in the 247 composite (#68 overall) in his class, and the highest rated prospect ND has secured an LOI from at QB since Buchner's commitment. But he is far from a top 5 *overall* prospect in the nation/a 5-star composite prospect in the country on the level of a Manning, Moore, Curtis, etc.

Before the national title game you were arguing that NDs talent was the best in the country/in the tier 1 ... you were making that point along with that hack Driskell all season long. Why are you back tracking now? In fact, you've been making one version or another of this argument since you started posting here (not accepting the reality of the TALENT DISPARITY that ND has been handicapped by for the last 15 years at least while being completely dominated by the tier 1 of teams to the tune of a -200 point differential and like a 1-14 record over that time period)

The entire rating system is biased and subjective. How many top 100 HS recruits actually make it to the NFL?

No I didn't. I never said we had as much talent as OSU. It's easy to look up and you can prove me wrong. I'll wait but you won't be able to. Go for it

I said we are one of the most talented teams in the country (we are). And if we were as healthy as OSU we definitely could have won that game

I dont care about what Ty Davie Weis Kelly did at ND. It's irrelevant to what MF is doing. I could care less. So when you go back x number of years just know that is absolutely meaningless.

You said we didn't have the talent to keep up with Georgia. We beat them by 13. And they had more talent according to your Bible the 247 team rankings than OSU.

So another fail by you

Cj Carr > Dante Moore

One of the reasons Dante backed out was we took CJs commitment

How could ND be considered "one of the most talented teams in the country" with only the 10th-ranked talent in the 247 Composite and just two players drafted in the first three rounds? It doesn't make sense.

Also, the last 15 years are relevant because the track record has shown over and over that despite the quality of coaching, ND is completely dominated by the tier 1 teams in college football with their present level of talent. Its not an argument about the coaches, its an argument about the talent specifically (and how the results of the football team are capped by the level of their talent). We've seen this level of talent play out, and its not good enough -- not by a long shot, regardless of who is coaching the roster at the time.

ND was one of the most talented teams in the country with the 10th ranked talent in the 247 composite in 2024 confirmed by having a whopping 2 players TOTAL drafted in the first 3 rounds?:rolleyes: It dont make sense.

ND was 9th in the 247 team rankings not 10th so wrong again. And 5th in per player avg (more important). F+ said they were 4th best overall. So F+ and per player avg is damn near the same. I'll trust F+ on this one

Did you say it don't make sense? Lol

ND had 6 players drafted and is getting most of their top players and talent back that's why they are ranked between 2 and 6 in pretty much every preseason. Wake up

Also again, I stopped reading when you said the last 15 years are relevant. Stopped there. Dead end. Meaningless. If Kelly was still coach Id continue. I dont care what Kelly did when talking about this MF team. 2 different coaches. 2 different rosters. Don't care

You still don't get it. The level of talent based on the recruiting class rankings and the talent rankings has been flat. No movement. Even dating back to BK. We've seen the results of this talent leveyyear after year. I don't understand how you are not getting the point and not able to make the connection

The 247 team rankings goes back to 2015. Show me from 15 to 21 where Kelly was coach the team have a per player avg of 91.16. You can't. Just like you can't show where I made the statement about OSU. The highest Kelly had a team was 90.36. So you were wrong again. The avg player on the roster has already taken a jump. Most of the Kelly teams were in the 89 range. Now we are in the 91 range

Next show me in the F+ era where ND had a 4th overall ranking. He coached at ND for 12 years. Did that ever happen.

So yes there was a jump in the 247 recruiting ranks and yes there was a jump in the F+.

The data (using your 2 personal favorites) is trying to tell you yet you refuse to see it

Because you are actually a troll.

I think there's been team recruiting score inflation for most teams in the top 25ish or so since the transfer portal era & NIL era started. If you look at where ND ranks relative to that inflation there's been no movement. e.g. despite having higher recruiting score they are still ranked somewhere in that area of 10-15th. In fact, ND was recruiting better during the later years of BKs tenure at ND (right before departing for LSU) than they are currently recruiting under MF through 2025

2026 has some encouraging signs but still very much TBD.

It's obvious you are just trolling now

First the Ohio state comment that was debunked. Then the no difference in talent thing that was debunked by 247 and F+. Now its inflation and Kelly lol

MF 22 - 91.82
23 - 91.82
24 - 91.46
25 - 91.02
26 - 92.14

BK 21 - 89.94
20 - 90.92
19 - 90.78
18 - 90.05
17 - 89.37

Any other BS you want to throw on the wall to see if it sticks that I can debunk for ya ?

Freeman worst talent he brought in is better than best talent BK brought in the last 5 years and probably longer but that's how far I went back. 5 each

Yes recruiting score inflation as in its not just NDs recruiting score/ratings that are going up its the rest of the teams in the top 25 or so that are benefiting from receiving transfers and replacing lesser players on their 85 man roster with better ones. It also has to do with NIL possibly creating more even talent distribution since guys want to start ASAP for NIL opportunities instead of wait their turn at a modern power in a crowd of other 5 and high 4* players on the roster. Thus, its not the scores you should be looking at, but where ND is ranking in college football in the recruiting and talent rankings (this will account for the inflation that im speaking to)

Essentially NDs 247 class ranking over last 8 years (BKs last 4 classes vs MFs first 4 classes):

2025: 12th
2024: 9th
2023: 12th
2022: 7th - freemans first class
AVG: 10th

2021: 9th - BKs last class before departing to LSU
2020: 18th
2019: 16th
2018: 10th
AVG: 13th

There's been some improvement in the class rankings but not by much, and still too far away from the first tier / top 5 recruiting teams in the country.

Class rankings who cares. Per player avg is the talent you are bringing in. Bring in talent and retain it

We are bringing in more talented players and we are retaining it better than pretty much any program in the country. We don't have much roster turnover each year and we only add transfers to plug holes which we don't have many.

Our roster is not only really talented, but the balance at each position is really good. MF is excellent at class balance.

If you look at the comp team talent from last year, we played number 2, 3, 10, 11 and 15. We went 4 and 1 against that. And that's with a boatload of injuries. It's very obvious what is happening in south bend to anyone who wants to open their eyes

Jonaz Walton 4 star Ga rb just got predicted to ND.

124 overall .9438 ranking. Will give the class another boost and another blue chip

Osborne and Walton will be the best tandem any team signs this year if they get this one done
