The pre game experts were all wrong

1- ND gonna get smoked - wrong
2- ND secondary is weakness vs OSU receivers - wrong. Secondary held up. That double safety blitz was the worst call of the night. Otherwise strong play would have liked to see more aggressiveness but they kept it in front of them
3- ND offensive line is strength - we sucked
4- ND defensive line is strength - for 3 quarters were solid. But only 1 sack? And they were hung out to dry by Rees who gave them no help and were in the field too long
5- Rees is an offensive guru - wrong. Flat wrong. Very disappointing. No screens, predictable runs, just a bad second half
6- according to Freeman, ND will focus on stopping the run - we did not do that effectively especially in second half
7- Buchner will be overwhelmed by the game pressure - wrong, he played fine but was rushed because our line sucked

so it was a step forward and all the experts were wrong but even tho we played well for 2.5 quarters, we have many questions.

#4 no...
Our Dline was pedestrian.
Not one containment the entire game. Not one

#7 he wasnt fine but the sampling is still too small

Guess you’re a real expert on OL play as well as offensive play calling . Playing one of the top 3 teams in the country on their field , in front of 106,000 rabid fans , with 3 Heisman candidates , and 2 preseason ist team AllAmerican OTs and holding them to 7 pts for basically 3 quarters was outstanding! Holding them to 21 for game was as well.
The offense game plan was definitely very conservative for many reasons… WR corp depleted and very inexperienced. QB was starting first game in 3 years with very little experience. OSU Defense was very experienced and strong. I could go on but you obviously know more than MF and TR . By all accounts TR is highly respected in the coaching ranks !
one game does not a season make !

Why is this so hard for some to accept or understand? The ND coaching staff did a heck of a job
The defensuve staff did a heck of a job outside of one call

And the offensive staff did well in the first half. They accomplished their goal. But in the 2nd half the game was there to be won. We were right there but we went ultra conservative when the 3rd was the time to go for it.

We had kept it close, we were actually winning. But we didnt take the oppurtunity to go for it. That was disappointing

Because there's nothing to accept. It's gibberish. No one anywhere in a million years would ever think our coaches just knocked it out of the park. Except maybe distraught ND fans who are desperate to view anything that happens to BK's successor in a positive light.

And you seem to want to pander to them in this regard for some reason.....

They held the line but didn't dominate for sure. It's a big ask to rush 4 and contain a team like OSU. They weren't perfect, but they held enough for us to play the intermediate and deep routes well....minus the double safety blitz...and I'd still say that was really poor execution vs. a bad call. The safeties should have been close at the snap and the slot cb should have forced the wr outside instead of inside.

Overall we held OSU to 21 points.
The problem is in these type of games scoring...
3 against Clemson playoff
14 against Bama..twice
10 against Clemson in acc title

Running all these super safe plays in terrible fear of an interception....or a pick 6...

Little dink and dunk plays are a sure fire quick route to scoring 3 or 10 or holy shit...14 points in a game and we'll never win.
Never.
It's 2022...14-7 games aren't happenimg (sans Iowa)
