Steve Angeli To Syracuse.

I wonder how much integrity it will destroy in this coaching staff if Angeli goes on to be an All-ACC type player and Carr/Minchey flame out due to performance/injury issues going forward?

I've seen weirder things happen.

New Jersey guy to New York. Syracuse at Notre Dame on 11-22.

I think the coaching staff saw Angelli’s composite ranking and decided to move on. Even if he’s a All-ACC player, he wouldn’t have been enough to win a NC. Only the best of the best can accomplish that

You make a fair point actually. It wouldn't matter if these QBs flame out or if Angeli materializes into an "All-ACC" type player. The team isn't good enough to win a national title in its current form regardless.

I like Steve and the manner he carried himself in his time at ND. If he doesn’t come in and ignite a scoring drive before half against PSU, ND likely loses that game.

I’ll be rooting for him every Saturday this coming season.

Angeli won't have the OL or the weapons he had at the skill positions that he had at ND. It's ashame he will have to go against his former teammates. It should have never come down to this.

He'll also get to beat up on shit teams in the ACC for 10 games instead of just 5. Syracuse was also low key a top 15 offense last year (they finished the season with the 11th best OF+ in the country in 2024). Their new OC Nixon (ex NY Giants coach) turned their offense into one of the best in the country overnight. Last year they had Kyle McCord, this year they have Steve Angeli, a guy whose done nothing but move offenses any chance he's gotten.

I like the move for Angeli, it'll be interesting to see how this all plays out in 2025. Namely the careers of Carr/Minchey/Angeli.

I wonder what he'll miss more, I'm thinking the OL. Syracuse had a much better passing offense than we did a year ago. So he's probably in a better place, quite frankly. He has to compete with Rickie Collins, LSU transfer, who's probably bumming out, now he's got someone breathing down his neck.

I think this is a score for Angeli, seems like a great spot. And I figure he'll eventually beat out Collins, who's not bad, but who has less game experience than Angeli, but who was there for spring ball. After a quick google, the headline reads, Syracuse coach decisively names Rickie Collins as the 'cuse's new starter. So I guess angeli's got his work cut out for him.

For all of the talk of the "instability" that the transfer portal has caused, this 2025 season is far more entertaining as a result of it.

The QB Tom Rees recruited that ND let go to Syracuse (Angeli) now gets to play immediately vs his old team/coaching staff that essentially told him he wasn't better than the other guys on the roster.

Now Angeli immediately gets a chance to prove them wrong.

The effin' portal is awesome. It really is, all these old fogies can screw themselves. It's not just good for the players, it's good for the sport. And if you're a player, you just gotta navigate that shit and make smart decisions.

Angeli was a composite low 4-star in his class, and now a 3-star transfer. It's reassuring to know that 24/7 isn't that high on Angeli after their latest evaluation of him

So they’re saying he regressed…….meanwhile some moron said he’s the next Joe Burrow…..nothing like so called expert analysis!

And he's going to get destroyed

What does its “current form” need in order to win a national championship?

I think the staff understood Angeli wanted to start. They sat down with him and did the right thing, they told him they are moving forward with the younger guys in the room and he should go find that starting position elsewhere. It was the ethical thing to do.

Let's be honest, even if Angeli had lit it up in practice and the BG game, both Carr and Minchey in theory have higher upside. The staff wasn't going to risk losing one or both of those two.
